For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

I love these boots. I've had mine for 2 1/2 years and hike in them at least once a week except when there is snow. They are light enough that I use them where I used to use low hiking shoes. They've provided sufficient support on the two backpacking trips on which I've worn them. Their waterproofing is good: I wore them on an early summer hike with at least two dozen stream crossings and hundred of yards of boggy terrain and my feet were dry at the end. They get good traction but the soles are wearing surprisingly slowly. Note that I have narrow feet, so these boots fit me well. They do have downsides: they are not warm so not suitable to wear in the snow, the insoles weren't supportive so I immediately replaced them, and I don't like the black and yellow colors.
These shoes look great but when actually wearing them the heel drop is insane i feel like I'm wearing high heels and they are SO narrow i genuinely have no idea who these are supposed to fit? My feet arent particularly wide yet the sides of my feet feel like they are in a vice grip
I’ve been a Solomon fan for many years and had only tried Hokas for hiking (great but not durable). I went to REI expecting to get another pair of Solomon’s but tried these La Sportivas. They are light, supportive and fit very well. They actually seem to fit better than my Solomon’s ever did. I’ve yet to actually hike in them yet, but have been wearing them all week in an attempt to break them in, they are very comfortable. I’m looking forward to actually hiking in them soon.
They feel so light on your feet. Paired with the right socks and man it is Soo nice. They are La Sportiva so they run a bit more narrow . I normally wear a size 9, but with hiking socks, I had to go up a size.
