Good and warm
Really warm and waterproof for basic things. shoveling snow and sledding I've used them and they are good so far at 25 f
Great for low temps
ove these gloves! Been wearing them every day in 15-30F degree temps and they have kept my hands so warm. Add a hand warmer and it’s even better. This is coming from someone who has thin hands and has trouble keeping them warm.
Very Warm Down Mittens
Very warm and useful for situations when my fingers become too cold with other gloves. I use them for Raynaud's prevention and recovery. Not so thick as to make use difficult.
Cute but does not retain heat
I like these gloves but they came to me a little scuffed and the inside pulls some. They certainly look warm but feel there needs to be another layer to hold the warm in more
Great mittens
The REI Campwell down mittens exceeded expectations. My hands stayed warm in single digit weather. Very soft inside. Sizing was accurate. Highly recommend. Would buy again.
Warm Within Reason
There's no doubt we greatly exceeded the temperature this mitten could keep us warm in, but we really knew that going in. The Fairbanks and Coldfoot areas of Alaska--and much of the entire state--just set a record for the number of days in a row below zero. We were here for the tail end of that streak, catching a few nights in the -45 range (officially, -47 in Coldfoot, but a couple thermometers read -55 and -58...unofficially). And we were out during those temps, and these mittens just couldn't keep my hands warm, and I didn't expect them to. I can say that -10 and warmer I didn't need to try to pull these on around super light merino glove liners (which were very helpful), as the mittens did the job just fine. The fuzzy lining was great for helping the interior to warm up--and warm my hands--much faster, and is very comfortable. Nitpick: the faux sherpa cuffs like to tuck inside the mittens when pulling on over the liners, and that lets snow and cold air in around them, where neither gets in when the cuffs are in place. All in all, the hassle of the cuffs battle with the liner material notwithstanding, these are very warm, light weight, and work well for what they're designed for: keeping hands warm in cold temperatures. Just not in the literal Arctic temps we experienced.
Warm Mittens
I intend to use these for just being outside on cold winter days. These mittens are not suited for work, skiing, etc. Just for walks and day hikes.
Can't get the darned things on!
The mits fit, but getting the second one on would take the strength of Hercules. There is such a thin layer of down I did not even think they were supposed to be down mits until I saw the description online. I bought them in the store, and they are going right back.
Hiking in cold my hands are WARM
Excellent cold weather mittens; these work really well when I walk outdoors in cold weather between 15-30 degrees. At my age I don’t make snowmen any longer so not sure what to expect if I were making snowballs. But for my hikes theses are so comfortable for 4-5 mile walks daily regardless of temperature drops.
Not warm
Bought for watching outdoor fall sports and early morning commute. Tested them out in 40-50 degrees and fingers were still cold. Won’t be worth anything when the temps of Colorado actually drop.
