Not as warm as I expected
Not nearly as warm as I expected, especially for a REI product. Cold hands after 20 minutes in 20 degree weather. They do seem durable. I guess the term synthetic leather sounds better than vinyl.
Surprisingly not warm lol
I’ve been using these to walk to the train and ride my bike in Philly, and the do a decent job? The extra bulk misrepresents how much warmer they are compared to a medium soft-shell. They start off well, but once the cold penetrates them after about 5-10 minutes there’s no coming back. This is especially true biking when temperatures go below the mid 20s. It takes me 15 minutes to get to work by bike and even with handle bar mitts my fingers were BURNING in 20-10°F. I’m not sure what purpose these serve but protecting you 5-10° more than a medium glove…for twice the price? Useless to me they’re getting returned.
Warm Hands
In 20 degree weather shoveling snow my hands usually get cold these gloves kept my hands warm
New features
These are my daily gloves in fairbanks, I’ve been buying them for the last three years, or longer. Not too expensive and durable. This year they are different they seem like they are less quality than previous years. I miss the drying loop on the finger already.
Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke
These are a poor replacement for the old REI guide gloves, which in my opinion were a nearly perfect piece of equipment. Out is the finger loop and the high dexterity fit. In is a weirdly intermediate and compressive amount of insulation, that totally sacrifices dexterity without actually making them particularly warm. I’m very disappointed, had the guides for about 5 years, returned to find them discontinued and with this totally inadequate replacement. Sadly, I’m returning these and will be shopping elsewhere.
Pathetic Quality
Junk! These $60 gloves ripped the second time I pulled them on.
Insulated gloves.
I received these good looking gloves for Christmas 2025 and was excited to try them out. The fit seemed "snug" and wearing them for a walk along the Metolius River in Camp Sherman today I found them to not be warm enough. The temperature was freezing at 32 degrees or below. I am not sure if there is a "warmth" rating on these gloves. I will keep them for their looks and hoping they loosen up some by wearing them out and about in above 32 degree temps!
Happy
I bought these in the store and was a little worried based on the reviews, but decided to give them a try. I’m thankful I tried them on in the store because I would have bought a small had I ordered them online, but the extra small ended up being a better fit. I tried them immediately after and a quick two mile hike in 17 degree weather and they kept my hands nice and toasty.
Awful
So glad I found out how horrible these gloves are BEFORE my snowshoe trip in Montana later in January. Used today for the first time to clear off about an inch of snow in Pennsylvania with temperature of 8 degrees "real feel". My hands were freezing cold within 20 minutes! No way these can be waterproof - false advertising! Returning them tomorrow!
Great glove for winter temperatures
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, which they all certainly have. I got these gloves as a holiday gift. They're so nice that I don't want to use them for working! They seem durable but I know from my outdoor labor job that daily work stains and wears stuff so easily. Ice uses them a handful of times in 20-40 F temperatures when walking outside for more than a minute, when warming the car. Today was -25 F and these still kept my hands adequately insulted. Sure a little air can get in if your sleeve comes up, but that's nothing. I wouldn't go trying to grab something out of the water with these. But id wear them for hiking when I don't have to grip and climb anything behind a staircase handrail or hiking pole. Great glove to wear out when it's winter. Not mechanic glove dexterity, but it's insulated well so take solace in the padding and comfort. Fingers don't not come out and become hard to push back in. The clip is cool too, for keeping them together. Would probably be decent snowball throwing gloves. Wanna try to keep these nice so they last when my hands are old and wrinkly.
