Vast improvement over original Rocky Mountain High Gaiters, which I used for 15-20 years. A velcro flap keeps the velcro seam from opening up at the bottom from the force of frozen snow. The inverted front hook stays in place much better.
I originally got the size M because I wear a women's size 9 shoe (which generally translates to a 7 or 8 men's) but usually men's products fit me better. The velcro wouldn't close around my calves at all. Exchanged for size L. Still barely closed around my bare calves with no space for any layers. I'm now at an XL, which is supposed to fit a men's shoe size 11-13, which seems absurd. They've been great about the exchanges, but it could've been avoided by listing the calf measurements. If you have any muscle in your calves, size WAY up.
Easy to put on and remove. They can be a little warm so be ready for condensation and/or sweat once you get into your walk.
Who are these made for? Active hikers with no calf muscles?
