Very solid jacket
One of the most durable and practical shell jackets out there. I find the fit to be perfect. The protection from elements is top tier, and the canvas material is hard wearing and rugged. I also love all the pockets, hood, and zips. It's easy to move in, while providing strong shelter when the wind whips up.
Great jacket but small wrist opening
I am 74.5 inches tall and weigh 192 lbs. I purchased this jacket in a size XL. The fit is good. The sleeve length is great. I am using this jacket as the jacket I wear while snowboarding at my local ski resort. Performance has been good. I will layer a down puffy underneath this shell when it gets really cold. The purple color is great. I have gotten several positive comments about the color of the jacket. I wish the branding was a little smaller or tonal in color. My biggest issue with the jacket is the small wrist opening which makes it difficult to get the jacket over my under cuff style mitts. Outside of saving costs I am not sure why they would make the wrist opening so small.
Browns don’t match
I purchased the Sabre SV jacket in Blaze / Copper Sky along with the matching pants at the same time, in store, expecting a cohesive set. Unfortunately, the browns do not match. The difference is immediately noticeable under day light and reads more like two different washes than intentional variation. For a brand like Arc’teryx, especially at this price point, color consistency across a jacket and its corresponding pants should be a given. Buying both pieces together in store makes this especially disappointing, as this is not a case of mixing seasons or batches. It feels like a design or production oversight rather than a minor discrepancy. Functionally, both pieces perform well, but the visual mismatch is hard to overlook when worn together.
No felt liner
The Sabre Jackets with the felt liner are way warmer. Sabre AR was tougher and warmer. The jackets fit is too baggy. The pockets need to be higher so the excess length of the jacket is worth anything in the backcountry. Otherwise you put your backpack strap on and the gear in your low pockets lifts the jacket up over the front of your pants more than I would like. It really make the excess length useless if you have a pack on and gear in your pockets. Weight is well under advertised so that's great I suppose
Arc's finest hardshell?
This jacket is everything you'd want in a ski shell. It feels bomber with a properly burly construction and generous fit. Lots of waterproof shells are going ultra-lightweight but this thing is a throwback to heavy-duty Arc shells of yesteryear. It's still packable but doesn't skimp on the robust build that made OG Arc'teryx shells great. Fit is perfect. I'm usually between a Medium and Large but this is roomy enough for the Medium to fit well with layers underneath.
Almost there, almost perfect.
I don’t know about $900, but it’s still very nice. Could use some stronger pocket material, so I can put stuff heavier than a lighter. The main zipper is terrible. Every time I zip it up I have issues. Also could use a bigger zipper so I can actually get it with mittens on. If I didn’t have to Take them off to mess with the zipper and get it going, I would still have to remove my mittens since the zipper tab is tiny.
bomb proof
30 days of resort skiing on this jacket so far. Extremely durable, took a spill on some hidden rocks, tore my sabre bibs but this jacket held up with no visible damage. The 200D does make the fabric a bit stiff but I'm really hard on my gear and constantly ripping/patching the lighter weight shells. Expensive but this shell will last you many seasons. No issues with breathability or waterproofness.
Fabulous features
I have had Arcteryx jackets for years. Durability, has been excellent. While it is a shell, the insulation happens when it is windy out prevents cooling which I count on as insulation. Waterproofness is fabulous. Hood size is great when wearing a helmet, length is really good. Plus the Azelea colour is awesome, finally a good purple to choose from too.
Robust fabric!
Bomber jacket. Spent my first day in this jacket skiing the woods of New Hampshire on the very cold, windy, snowy day. Did some bush whacking a few times and found no marks or tears at the end of the day. The fabric is robust. Also did a good job keeping out the wind. 5’10, 165, Medium is a nice fit but arms are a touch long.
Worst Arc'teryx jacket I've ever owned (2025/2026)
I've been a long-time fan, supporter, and customer of Arc'teryx. I've worn their jackets for snowboarding for well over a decade and have never had any issues. My previous jacket was a Sabre, and it was a great jacket. This specific model, Sabre SV from the 2025/2026 season uses a new fabric. While the fabric looks nice, its texture is extremely rough. It’s so abrasive that after a single day of snowboarding, simply turning your head over and over will rub the skin off of your lips. It feels like having 350 grit sandpaper pressed against your face all day. If you keep the jacket zipped up and move your head back and forth to check your blind spots while riding, you can end up with a rash on your face. I’m genuinely confused as to how this product made it to market in this condition. This jacket should be recalled. I hope Arc'teryx addresses this issue and returns to providing riders with the high-quality jackets and gear they’ve been known for over so many years.
