Poor Quality and Disreputable Warranty
I purchased the Gibson Messenger tech bag about 2 years ago and the strap broke. The plastic was flimsy and just snapped. I attempted to submit a warranty claim and was told the images I submitted were altered or fake. They require you to write a claim number in marker on the interior of the bag, which I did and they claim that is fake. I had simply asked for a new strap or new bag. Unfortunately, Herschel does not stand by its product or its warranty.
Fine for the sale price.
I would say it’s fine at the sale price. The strap adjusts, it’s sleek enough. I wish it had just a quarter inch more depth in the zippered pockets and main compartment. It’s just a bit too narrow to carry lunch any thicker than a sandwich. The snap on the handle is weak and comes undone for no reason. Which is a shame. But the padding on the strap is comfortable, it’s a good looking bag and holds my 16” laptop, papers and daily planner. Just don’t expect it to act as a carryon bag on flights. It’s not roomy enough for work AND a change of clothes.
My goto workhorse
I've been using a previous iteration of the Gibson Messenger (in CAMO) since 2018 and it's the bag that I keep coming back to day after day. It's got just the right amount of internal pockets for accessories, a flexibly sized padded laptop pocket, genius design of the luggage trolley sleeve which can be used as an external pocket when zipped. This bag's got just the right amount of padding to protect your gear, while not being overweight or otherwise burdensome. It's also got enough reinforcement to be able to stand on its own and not flop over like totes usually do. The overall profile is slim but can swell up to pack a boatload if needed, in addition to the regular external pocket. Thanks Herschel. (No I was not paid to write this review).
Perfect travel laptop bag
Just what I’m looking for, a work laptop bag with a luggage slip. Roomy enough to put additional note pads a bottle of water, umbrella, and a pouch/wristlet in the main compartment. The outside zip pocket to hold your pens, the shoulder strap, the power cord, small pad, other office supplies. And the hidden pocket for other items such as keys, phones, passport. I gave it a four star because I purchased the dusty rose and I’m not sure how easy any dirt will wipe off, off it.
Perfect Work Bag For My Husband
I got this as a gift for my husband, who works in a medical setting. It's sleek, really sturdy, and roomy enough to carry his laptop, work papers & notebooks, water bottle and snacks. He appreciates the different pockets in the front compartment, which helps keep his keys, pens, badge and other small items organized. I love that it's also stylish and professional enough for him to use for travel and conferences while still being fully functional.
It's The Goldilocks Bag
Just received my Gibson Messenger Tech and I'm completely thrilled with it. It's not too big and not too small, it's just right! It fits my Samsung Galaxy S9 Ultra tablet (big!), keyboard, papers, charger, phone, wallet, glasses and a ton of other stuff. It's well made, looks great... even the padding on the strap is generous and comfortable. I'm very happy with this bag and would recommend it without reservation!
Repeat
This is my second one. I had my first one that I had for around 5 yrs get stolen out of my truck when the truck was in the shop. Of course they are not responsible for any personal items and of course there are no cameras in the shop. Well I had to have another. Great work bag for my work needs and trust this one will be much harder to take :face_with_one_eyebrow_raised:!
Almost perfect
Great bag, just confused as to why you would include a plastic clip strap inside the bag to hold the laptop down. It can scratch my MacBook so I ended up just cutting it out. Next version of the bag should maybe include a magnet strap made out of a soft material.
This is the 'Goldilocks' bag. It's not too big and it's not too small. It's just right! Plus, it's really thought out well, made with great materials and attention to detail and looks great. This one is a winner. Buy it and your won't be sorry.

Had another Herschel back pack which I was very satisfied with. Was glad they came out with a messenger style which is perfect for day to day.
