Smartwool  Classic Mountaineer Classic Edition Max Cushion Second Cut Crew Socks

I've bought many pairs of these over the years. Their thickness and my feet issues go well together. I wear these 3 seasons a year in the Pacific NW. When these went on sale recently, I treated myself to the blue as my others are all the charcoal color. These seem to be NICELY upgraded. Usually when products are 'upgraded' there are things the new style is lacking. NOT here! These are as thick as ever, have added a slight elasticity around the arch foot area, come over my calf and STAY UP. I have an issue w/my older pairs staying up, though they've been around quite a while. Perhaps these will eventually not stay up as well, but for now, they stay up ALL day! I loved the 'new' style so much, I bought a total of 5 pairs. Sock bliss!!!

I returned wool over the calf socks I had purchased at the store. I had not tried them on and they were too large. I returned to the store to get the correct size. With the help of a knowledgable clerk, we determined that I needed a smaller size but they were not in stock. I went to check out and returned the over the calf socks and told the cashier I needed to order the same sock but in the smaller size. A short time later, the same brand sock arrived in the correct size BUT it was a crew sock instead of over the calf. I have returned the socks and ordered from another supplier.

Exactly what I was hoping for in a thick wool sock.

Bombproof Socks. It replaces a pair that I purchased in 2004. Will last a devishly long time and keep your toes warm, soles cushy, and calves wrapped in warm delight.

Nice socks but . . . I wear a 9.5 shoe and the Large size is clearly way to big even though the sizing recommendation says it should fit shoe size 9-11.5. I just ordered the Medium size hoping that they will fit.

Very good socks no doubt, but they feel a bit more synthetic and a bit less robust than the originals.

Well-made, warm, but run a bit large. These socks are well cushioned and warm. They keep my feet warm while on rugged hikes in the snow in the winter.
