These are really well made and I really wanted them to work. I love Altras but hate how fast they fall apart. Lems have been my next go to but my toes needed something I could control my heel better by tying. So I got these in wide. The heel slipped horribly and the toebed is too narrow, hurts my little toes so bad! I was able to lock my heel down a little by tying them differently but then they rubbed the skin off the front of my ankle. So these are being returned. I bought the super ugly Salomon Elixir boots and they are a really good fit. Hopefully they will last, but if not they are still quite a bit cheaper than Altras. I will continue to wear my Lems on hikes without steep incline.
Love these boots. I have a low volume, very narrow foot 8.5 A), and finding any shoes, but especially hiking boots has become harder and harder. Seems most companies have stopped making narrows altogether. Thankfully, the Vasque medium lasts run narrow, but allow for a bit of room in the toe box, which i also need. These are super light, waterproof AND STYLISH too lol! Love how comfortable they are right out of the box. I live in Maine and walk daily on mixed terrain, in all sorts of weather. These are great for sloppy days. I just use a warmer sock if the temps drop a lot. Guessing they will be fine even on warmer spring days.
At first, I thought these were going to be way too tight. Then I realized I was coming from overused Merrell GoreTex boots that left the right side of my right foot beaten down, red, and swollen. So I changed the lacing on the new boots and wore these with thin wool socks. After a few days, my right foot was no longer swollen or red, and it seemed to be enjoying the support. I even tried it with thicker socks and it I worked well. I do think that a pair 1/2 size larger would work too in almost all situations. I would just change socks to suit. I really like how easy it is to clean these things. I even like the included two pairs of laces to choose from. I am now enjoying the support that my feet have been missing for a while. Just a note to self to not ignore broken down boots.
These were on sale and I was drawn to the style. I read the reviews and despite the fact that I have a narrow foot but also like a wider toe box, I did what I usually do now and sized up 1/2 a size. Someone had commented on the top being too tight around the ankle but I didn’t find that. I also have a narrow ankle. I wore a medium thick hiking sock and didn’t tie them too tight and I absolutely love them. They fit great and I look like a top notch hiker in them. Many compliments. I recommend them to similar sized feet. I usually wear a seven, but I ordered the 7 1/2. I recommend doing the same.
Nice looking boot, but had to return. Ordered a wide width, but the shoes were still too narrow. It’s a stiff shoe, so you really can’t cram your foot into it.
