Received used item
I ordered a new pair of Danner boots from REI at full price but when they arrived you can tell the were slightly used or a floor model. The tags on the boots have a red dot like they may have been on a clearance section at some point. Disappointed with REI and the quality of the product received
Looks and feels good in city winter and on a hike
I bought these for autumn and winter general urban use in NYC and Chicago conditions. My step tracker says I've put about 1500 miles on them, so it's time for a review. I bought to my nominal size 12, and with medium weight danish wool socks they fit perfectly. They were pretty comfortable right away, and very good after about 75 miles. They are totally waterproof. The vibram soles are nearly smooth under the ball of each foot, but will be OK for a couple hundred more miles, then I will get new soles. The original tread was more than adequate for northern winter. The body of the boots are in excellent condition, albeit with some scuffing. They are not hiking shoes, but they are suitable for a few miles in rough terrain (Palm Canyon trails). My only quibble is that the upper lace loop hooks are tiny, making laceup time laborious and with a lot of ankle flexing the laces can fall out of the hooks. I think this hook size was an esthetic choice by the designer, but a little bigger and more secure would be better. I hesitated over the price, but after 6 months I feel that they were worth the money. They're a boot that I can dress up or down and feel very comfortable in any situation or weather the cities can dish out. I'm a size 12 who weighs 190 lbs.
Worth the $
I got them to wear to work in an office. They are sharp and have a unique look. The charcoal color is versatile; works with dark pants or brown khakis. Very comfortable, light and quiet. I wish Danner would do black stitching instead of the white.
Most comfortable walking boot ever
Most comfortable casual boots ever. Wore these for conference in San Francisco and walked all over the city and expo at Moscone. Tons of compliments. Comfort and support was perfect balance. No regrets.
Great 3 season boots for a great many things.
New work boots. Nice classic styled upper and comfy tech lower mashup. These are light on your feet which is great. Super comfy after standing over 6 hrs. Over 80 degrees I’d pick something else bc these get hot. Great support, traction, and they are very quiet indoors. I climb ladders occasionally and they will get toe smudges but can’t avoid that. So far they are awesome.
Light but Sturdy
Really nice soles - I have metatarsal issues and these really work with a sturdy, yet light and supple mid-sole. No issues out of the box. I have only walked in the rain with them, but seem to keep the feet dry. Classic style - I get lots of complements. These will definitely get resoled as I expect them to look fantastic worn in.
Feels like a really comfortable pair of sneakers
Right out of the box they felt like quality. Really lightweight. The fit is true to size. I had ordered another half size down just to make sure. Very stylish and the color is a unique shade between light and dark brown. First pair of Danners and I have no regrets.
Love
Love how these feel, they keep my feet dry in the rain and are great not only for office but also the job sites I go to weekly.
Quality craftsmanship, cool styling a bonus
Wow, immediately out of the box these lived up to the Danner reputation in my mind. Firstly, there are two sets of laces, which may seem minor but it shows the company cares more about function than financial margins. Secondly, I really like the eyelets on the boots, they are much more low profile but still give you the classic, hefty boot feel of tightening down the laces. They were pretty much wearable out of the box. A bit tight but the kind I know will relax with time. They are well built so it's preferable to them feeling flimsy right away. I will probably mostly wear these in wet weather/conditions but they would probably perform just fine on the trail. I bought these in prep for a trip to England, I needed waterproof, walkable, and stylish for all occasions. Ticks all the boxes. Looking forward to many years with these.
Nice boot
They are comfortable and I like the way they look. They are supposed to be waterproof but I sprayed them with some silicone based protectant just in case, and they didn't change color. I'm not hiking with these but will wear only in winter/snow so want to keep them looking good. They seem to run just A LITTLE big for size but that's good for wearing light wool socks. My Vasque's were too tight with anything other than a thin sock. Very happy with them.
