King of the Trails
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hard to argue with Brooks trail shoes lately, and the Cascadia 19 - while perhaps not revolutionary - is more than good enough to keep propagating that legacy. While the Cascadia 19 is a bit more rugged than I “need,” they handle any trail I run on expertly. Road performance is good, if a little… odd. They’re not quite a road-to-trail shoe (nor are they marked to be one). For rocky and technical trails including in some pretty nasty state and regional parts, these worked extremely well. I even ran a workout (fartlek-type session) over some really steep terrain and the midsole excelled.
Ultimate Trail Shoe
If you’re anything like me you spend entirely too much time reading reviews on products before you buy them. With that being said the Brooks Cascadia 19 is now my go to trail shoe. The fit is true to size. I get great ‘lockdown’ out of the shoe while still feeling like I have good room in the toe box. The foam has a good balance of responsiveness and cushioning. This shoe feels like it is built to last I expect to get at least 300 miles out of it. The outsole and tread on the shoe is great. It does well on every type of terrain I have put it through so far. Great job to Brooks for setting the bar for what trail running shoes should be!
No longer viable
The cascadia has become too soft for my feet, and my once favorite shoe is now unwearable. I require shoes with no arch support, and these had worked great for about 6 years, but since the 16 (the best cascadia version) they have steadily declined in terms of materials and design. So sad...
Substance over style
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the way this running shoe feels. It has bounce and is so supportive. My feet feel great from the moment they go on, and continue to feel great throughout. The fabric is a very breathable mesh, which keeps my feet feeling well ventilated, but is poor for running in the rain (or even a slight drizzle). I will saw that my one knock on it is the color scheme is not very appealing. I actually have an expensive performance shirt that was a gift and a really great athletic shirt but the color is a little revolting, and these shoes match it PERFECTLY (the color scheme looks worse in person than in pictures). So you may struggle to fit this style into your wardrobe, but if you can (or you don’t care about the color scheme) your feet will really thank you!
Quality Trail Running Shoe No Longer Works for My Foot
For many of its iterations, the Cascadia trail runner was a perfect fit for me in a 14 2E Wide. It was the old reliable I could always count on. The quality of the shoe lives on, but the toe bed has been severely narrowed to the point my large toe will cramp after only a few minutes of wear around the house. Tried this several times -- different times of day, various sock cushions, etc. I am so disappointed, because they have always been a reliable fit and functioned very well for mixed terrain multi season trail/gravel road running. I will probably give the 20 a try to see if Brooks rehabs the fit to its original specs.
What is a Brooks Cascadia?
I’ve had a pair of Brooks Cascadia trail runners for a few years and have been wearing them daily in recent months. I like them fine for my daily hikes, but they won’t last forever; so I thought I would get another pair, which is the pair I’m now reviewing. I like them, too, but they bear no resemblance to my previous pair of Brooks Cascadias. The look and feel is completely different. So why would they put out a shoe with the same name as a shoe they sold a few years back when they are completely different shoes, or am I just stupid? Old man yells at cloud. The new ones have plenty of room and are very comfortable.
No Velcro for running gaiters. What?!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So bummed about this iteration of these shoes. Brooks took away the Velcro on the back to secure gaiters. I would love to hear the reason for this perplexing change. I google searched for running gaiters that have a hook at the back, but so far haven’t found anything. WHY would to make a change like this that makes your shoes incomparable with the standard gaiters attachment and sends your customers on a crazy goose chase for compatible gear? The soles are more comfortable than previous models of this shoe, but the functional negative outshines the comfort positives on this version of the cascadia in my book. Recommendation against buying if you ever run with gaiters.
Bad knees Trail Running
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I finally stepped up from Brooks Divide and these are fantastic. I run with Glycerine for my road days as I have have terrible knees. I had used Divides for my limited trail running. These felt slightly less cushioned underfoot than a glycerin, but the support is excellent. They feel like a Ghost + in terms of overall cushioning. Support is great in the ankle area. Traction on snow and wet leaves has been outstanding. They feel like they run a half a size large in the toe box. Initially, I was going to return the for a half size down, but running in the felt great and never loose. I am glad I purchased them.
My Feet Finally Found the Perfect Partner for Trails
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to try Brooks Cascadia 19 for my trail runs. As someone who enjoys getting out on the trails but isnot a fan of the feeling of heavy shoes on my feet, I’ve been looking for a trail shoe that doesn't demand a break-in period. The Cascadia 19 checked all the boxes, with its light, mesh material for the upper being the standout feature; my feet stayed cool and comfortable even on a longer hike, and the grippy waffle pattern on the soles. I stayed steady on loose terrain, plus, the toe box is actually roomy enough for my toes to be comfortable. For me, one heel presses in a little tight on one foot, but honestly, that’s probably just something unique about my foot shape. Overall, these shoes slide on easily and feel good from the first step, making my weekend adventures a lot more enjoyable!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall this isn great versatile platform that still performs highly in the domain of running its marketed for. This is an exceptional trail shoe with a rock plate that can handle anything, and traction that will keep you on the trail. This shoe also performs highly as a daily trainer, able to keep up with high demand and giving you a steady grip for when the weather decides to turn on you. I’ve also used this shoe in the gym! I do a lot of dynamic workouts requiring me to move throughout my sessions and it holds up! Would 100% recommend this shoe to anyone, from an elite trail runner to a CrossFit athlete!
