Great Hat!!

I bought one of these Ultra Storm Bucket hats last year. It is my go-to hat. Waterproof, UPF 50+. Great design. Great for good visual field. The brim is just shy of 3", about 2 and 3/4". I am a 22 1/2" hat size, so Medium is my size and I snug up the internal adjustment feature. I love this hat so much that when Mineral, Khaki, and Shadow were back in stock I bought all three this year!!!!! Mineral is a grayish blue hue; Storm is dark gray. The underbrim of Mineral and Khaki is a dark gray, perfect to handle environmental reflected light. I totally recommend this hat. And, hey, if you want Mineral, it was out of stock a long time, so get it while you can.

Waterproof Comfort

Long ago I had a waterproof hat that I could crush into my backpack. It was there when I needed it. But I inadvertently left it somewhere. My Ultra Storm Bucket is the same--crushable and oh so waterproof. I've worn it in the rain a few times but it was barely sprinkling. Tomorrow will offer a better chance to experience it in an earnest rain if not downpour. Sprinkled water rolls off immediately. My only question is whether it needs to be washed regularly to maintain water repellence. It's also very comfortable. A few years ago I camped at Yellowstone. Our son and his family met us there. He had a Sunday Afternoons hat, and since I liked it it bought one of my own. I now have two, my wife and granddaughter each have one.

comfy hat but runs large

I haven't had a chance to try it in rain yet but it seems very well-made and I'm sure it will keep my head dry. It is a little warmer than a non-waterproof hat but still comfortable enough to wear into the 70s. (For anything warmer, I'll be sticking with my more breathable hat.) The size of the brim is perfect - because of the downturn, it still provides a lot of protection without being overly large or floppy, and it's thick enough that it holds up well in wind. My one complaint is that Sunday Afternoons sizing is off. According to their size chart, I should be between a M and L, and the M is a little loose on me. Not a big deal with the adjustable drawstring, and I can wear a lightweight beanie underneath in cold weather, but slightly annoying to not be able to rely on their size chart. Overall, I love this hat, and I really hope they're not discontinuing it.

My first rain hat

Fits perfectly. The grayish neutral color and classic look of the hat goes well with my hoodless beige trench coat I plan to wear with it. It looks well-made and durable. Since it’s waterproof and has a wide brim, I’m reassured my head won’t get wet as long as I tuck my shoulder-length hair in my coat. Would recommend to those who need a hat to go with their hoodless rainwear.

Knotty discomfort!!

I love the hat itself - well made, great style, good fit EXCEPT, there is no way I can see to secure the circumference adjusting strap other than to tie a knot in it which leaves the knot precisely between the back of your head and the adjustment rope. Fine for 5 minutes, very (headache inducing) uncomfortable for 50 minutes. likely will get very little wear on me.

Definitely a Great Buy

It works as advertised! I’ve had the opportunity to test this hat a couple of times in the last week and a half and it works perfectly. In addition to protecting me from the sun, it keeps the rain off my face. The shape of the hat also keeps the rain off my glasses. I definitely recommend this hat and I’m considering getting it as a gift for others.

Not good for surfing but good for other stuff

This is probably a good hat for non-surfing activities. For my purposes it was way too floppy and became oddly "inflated" in the water so I kept having to take it off and scrunch out the air. On the plus side, it's easy to adjust for a variety of head sizes (I shared it with my husband whose head is a lot bigger than mine) and it dries quickly.

Ultra Storm Bucket Hat-- Great For Rainy Weather

I had been wearing one of my many Adventure Hats when it was rainy. I purchased three (3) of these, haven't worn yet; however, just as all of the Sunday Afternoons hats, this rain hat is well made, and I am sure will be a great addition to my collection! I can't wait to wear it in the Spring rains!!!

Very nice quality and rain proof

It is just the best hat for rain. I don't get any rain on my face with this hat. Brim is kinda smaller than I would like but other than that it's great. Hard to adjust is another problem the string is too short to tighten the hat
