I think this is a new product so I thought I'd share my thoughts...this is a great bag! I've had a black hole duffel for years, and am something of a bag/rucksack enjoyer, and needed a new carry-on suitcase. Right off the bat I was super impressed by this bag. It appears to have the usual patagonia build quality, although it feels slightly different from my black hole duffel. The "coated" fabric on the lid is not as shiny/thick feeling, but overall everything feels at least as nice. It's just the right size for my needs, and it meets any airline carry-on requirement I could find. They do vary, and some other carry-ons I was looking at actually exceeded some of those standards...I've definitely been on smaller planes where people with standard looking carry-ons were asked to gate check. It's also more structured than a black hole duffel, and feels more like a suitcase (which it is). The main compartment opens from the "top" when the wheels are down, which is nice for keeping essentials where you need them. It has a large zippered slip pocket in front (side access), two large mesh pockets inside the main compartment lid, and that's it. I only have two negatives I noticed...first there is a side slip pocket which looks like a water bottle holder, but it's not very large and I didn't find it to feel that secure with a bottle in it...maybe if you rigged the bottle to the nylon loops above with a carabiner? This pocket feels kind of like an afterthought. I'd just keep a bottle inside if I didn't have another bag with me. It might be nice for stashing small papers/tickets/receipts, but even then I'd just use the front zippered slip pocket for security. That said it's not taking up any extra space and I'd rather have it than not. The other thing is that if you have a briefcase with a slip-through to go over the extendable rolling handle, it tips over pretty easily if you try to just stand it up (unless your briefcase were pretty light...but mine has a laptop and water bottle in it). Feels nice used as a backpack when you can't wheel/carry. Really like that feature when the roller isn't practical or is a liability or makes you look like a target. All in all this is a nice companion to my nylon briefcase for work travel, but I also see it being an awesome one bag solution for personal travel, which I haven't done yet with it.
Great bag but handle for rolling is very difficult to extend or put down all the way due to the zipper slit being too tight and in the way. Has anyone else experienced this or perhaps I have a bag with a flaw?
