Compact and functional!
This is a great bike rack so far. It's extremely easy to set up, take down, and get bikes on and off (it can go from stowed in the trunk to fully loaded with a bike in less than 5 minutes, with just one person involved). It folds down to a compact size that's easy to keep in the trunk of the car, but it still feels very solid when set up and loaded. I've taken it on the highway, on city streets, on winding roads with potholes, and through a torrential downpour, and the bike has stayed solidly in place every time. I haven't tested it with two bikes at the same time yet, but I've put two different bikes on it (one hybrid and one gravel), and the rack's movable arm allows for a lot of flexibility for various bike styles. I also can't speak to its longevity yet, but I see no reason to worry at this point. Overall a great rack, and I'm very happy with my purchase!
Extremely easy to use
I park in a tight garage where I need to remove the bike rack every time, so I wanted a rack that would install and remove easily. This Thule does not disappoint. It's the size and weight of a medium suitcase. The integral handle makes it easy to carry to the truck and insert it into the hitch. A few turns of the handle and it's tight. Takes literally a minute to install or remove it, no cursing required, and it feels secure with no rattling. The integrated locks allow the rack to be locked to the hitch, and can be used to lock the bikes to the rack. Mounting and dismounting bikes from the rack is also quick and easy, as long as you're able to lift the bike up to the rack. I haven't had the hitch long, so can't comment on long-term durability– but I have no concerns.
Really small package when stored
I used it to transport my one CTY e2.2 ebike about 300 miles over the weekend. It worked just fine. The real selling point for me is the incredibly small footprint it takes when removed from the car and folded up.
Nice and compact
Love the size. It folds up nice and small. Lightweight and looks very durable. Love how easy to attach to hitch. Appreciate all the built in locks.
Easy, Flexible, and Compact!
Incredibly easy to install and use. Fits my husband's beach cruiser (the Thule Apex XT didn't). Fabulously compact when not in use.
Easy to install and use, no rattle at all
I am a single person and not mechanically skilled at all. I already have a trunk rack I can't figure out. I wanted a hitch rack but didn't want to spend too much on a rack I would only use periodically. At the same time, I wanted a rack that would be extremely easy to use by myself with no rattles that would worry me while I'm driving. I originally looked at less expensive options but they all had at least some negative reviews such as the rack was too complicated, rattled, or was cumbersome. I fortunately was able to splurge on the Outpace and am very glad I did. It is insanely easy to install and also very easy to add my bike. I drove 6 or so hours on highways this weekend and the rack did not shake, rattle or roll one millimeter. Neither did the bike--it was completely snug. I was so happy every time I looked in my rear view mirror. I used the tilt-away function a lot and it worked great. The only downside is that the rack is too close to my bumper to fold up, so check the specs if you care about that. I asked Thule about using a hitch extender and they said because this model is so new, they have not tested it with a hitch extender yet so using one would void my warranty. Fortunately, this rack is light enough and easy enough to remove if needed. My only question is whether the rubber strap will hold up over time, but I'll have to wait to see. I never thought I could fall in love with a bike rack but the Outpace is really fantastic.
