Good for mid-layer and out-layer
ATOM is my favorite jacket. She has accompanied me to the plateaus of Tibet and western Sichuan, explored deep mountains, and been a great companion for running or day hikes. Atom is highly breathable; during spring and autumn hikes, I use her as an outer layer, effectively balancing warmth and moisture-wicking during outdoor activities. I never feel too cold or too hot, avoiding the hassle of frequent clothing changes. When the camp is static, she serves as a versatile mid-layer for warmth. For daily travel or road trips, Atom is a must-have item for me. The comfortable and soft fabric makes traveling more relaxing. Moreover, she is easy to pack, compact in storage, and retains her fluffy and soft texture immediately upon unpacking after a long period.
All around jacket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Comfy fit, warm and it isolates good, even if it’s -20 degrees I can still wear it with only one wool baselayer under while going up a mountain.
Right balance between warmth and comfort
I bought this in Whistler, a couple of weeks ago and am in love with that! Just the perfect level of warmth and comfort. I bought a medium, which is snug, but not too tight, and goes perfectly under the Gore-Tex shell. I might be back to buy it in other coloursđź¤
The quality of fabric is lacking.
I bought the Atom Hoody in 2023. I have worn it as a outside layer for walking in cooler weather. The down jacket I have was too warm when working up a sweat while walking. Overall the jacket has been very useful. I don't get too hot while walking and it keeps me warm enough for a windy/cooler walk. However, I am very disappointed with the quality of the fabric. I have noticed that the outside fabric is puckering and is not holding up well at all. For a jacket that is very expensive, I would expect higher quality fabrics being used. The older Arcteryx products have been much better quality. I have had the down Cerium Hoody since 2017/18 and its still holding up well, unike this 2023 Atom Hoody. I know they are different products, however quality should still hold up no matter what product it is.
Bring back to shorter cut!
Nearly 5 stars but...... This jacket has had it's cut/pattern changed to fit longer in the torso. If you're tall in the torso - great! This will serve you well and is truly a bomb proof and incredibly high performing and cosy jacket! I've owned one for 9 years and wore/loved it non stop until it's recent death. I purchased a new one but sadly most of us women aren't tall in the torso and the new fit just feels off and unflattering on me now. It sits tight on my hips and the extra few inches of length annoys and restricts my body. I miss the boxier cut that ended just below my hips as I could move more freely, plus I thought it looked much more flattering this length too! Heart breaking after owning the older cut for many years and loving the way it fit and felt. Please, PLEASE, please Arc'teryx; bring back your cute boxy cut for us shorter women!
ANY ACTIVITY = ATOM IS ON
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) The do it all jacket, have had mine for over a year and still my most used jacket I have ever had. Packable, lightweight, warm, breathable, comfortable, and washes well! The perfect mid layer insulation piece or stand alone piece for the shoulder seasons or higher output activities.
Sadly not great anymore.
Arc'teryx Atom hoodies used to be designed to be stylish and athletic. I own three of them and decided it was time for a new one. I love the Techno colour but the new pattern design for the jacket is completely off. I am still an XSM but the jacket is at least two inches longer than the previous style, and the collar is larger and sloppy. The sleeves are still narrow and okay but the longer length and the cheaper material leave the jacket looking inexpensive and boring. I think it is a Mountain Hardware jacket with an Arc'teryx name. I was so looking forward to having another beautiful Arc'teryx hoodie but sadly am returning this one.
Great look
Very light, warm and breathable, nice subdued colour, I'm very happy of the purchase
Preferred previous fit
I ordered this Atom jacket to replace my decade old Atom LT, which I absolutely loved! It was perfect and I wore it all year round. But this revised version doesn’t seem to work for me. I own many Arc’teryx jackets, all in size small, and they all fit perfectly… except this new Atom. It’s too tight under the arms and the sleeve length is an inch too short. I am very disappointed. I went to the store to try the medium, but it’s way too big. So I just ordered a Proton to see if the sizing will fit me better (although the color choices are more limited). Hope Arc’teryx will go back to the previous sizing, as it was perfect for me and I love their products.
Not suitable for cold weather
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) The purple color is very beautiful and the reason I am keeping it is because of its color! However, the material is not thick and limits its use to early fall or late spring. I cannot imagine to wear this in winter or any cold weather. I ordered Large and Xlarge and at the end I kept the XL. The sizing is not good. The large one was tight on bust and good on waist. The XL was good on bust but too big on waist. So, if you have large bust size, I recommend going one size big but at the same time it will be big in waist. I wish Arcteryx jackets were a little bigger in bust area since I have the same issue with their Beta AR series.
