Quality isn’t what it used to be
I bought by first pair of Solstice about six years ago and I still wear them around the house. My latest purchase of the X3 has been a huge disappointment. I’ve worn these shoes a total of ten times and they are falling apart in multiple locations. I love the comfort and wide toe box but the quality needs overhauled in a big way.
Just not there for me
I found these shoes so “in between” in style they didn’t really do either thing well. For me, too flat for running, but too soft for lifting. Just not a great cross training shoe. Returned.
Narrower than other models
I was looking for shoes to wear to the gym for HIIT classes, and I've loved all the other Altra shoes I've had for hiking or walking. I got these and found that the toe box is narrower than all the other Altras I've had. The size was also too long in my normal size, while still being too narrow. Otherwise they seemed great, well constructed, good stability, etc. Ended up returning because of the longer/narrow fit not being good for me.

Nice wide toe box, great fit and comfortable CrossFit shoe.
Great Shoes
This is my second pair of Altra shoes. My first pair are Lone Peak 9 and I love them. I bought this pair because I wanted a shoe to play pickle ball in, and I wanted Altra’s amazing wide toe box. I love this pair just as much as the Lone Peak.
Runs slightly large
I had to size down a half size in this from my usual Altra shoes. Bought for the gym due to low cushion.
What did you do to my favorite gym shoes?
Just received my fourth or fifth pair of solstice. I've been wearing them for YEARS in the gym. I am so sad to say this newest model feels like sandpaper on my feet. I was so distracted by how my feet felt throughout my entire workout today. I don't know what to do other than return them and check out a different brand for the gym :( What in the world is this newest model made out of? It's so uncomfortable.
Still the best
I almost did not buy this shoe based on the reviews but I’m glad I did - the shoe is phenomenal. I see all the improvements you’ve made and I’m extremely satisfied. Tongue more padded and stays in place, more durable, widest toe box I've come across. I’ve bought this shoe for a few years now and I’ll continue when these wear out. Thank you for all you do!! Keep it up!
