No complaints at all—Osprey nailed it with this on
VERY comfortable and well-designed! Used this vest on a road bike ride and a day hike—very comfortable and stayed secure, even with the bladder full. Front pocket fits an iPhone 12 Pro. Two vertical zippered pockets are great for snacks or a wallet. The main bladder compartment is spacious and easy to access. Magnetic closures on the straps and mouthpiece are a great touch. Underarm straps adjust easily and tuck away neatly. The back bungee is handy for an extra layer. No complaints—smart, functional design.
Great Minimalist Hydration Vest
This lightweight hydration vest is perfect for the minimalist or runners. It has two large zippered pockets on the front straps, along with slots to hold your glasses. The front chest straps are easy to use and quick to put on or take off. There’s a carry handle at the top of the vest for easy carrying. The main zippered compartment comes with a 1.5 L hydration reservoir. There’s plenty of room to add some other personal items.
Amazing hydration vest for cycling & beyond!
I love Osprey hydration vests! I also have a running-specific one and this one has a lot of great additional features for cycling. The glasses loop is so helpful- I have lost multiple pairs of glasses falling off my helmet and this is much more secure. With the bladder totally full, it's a little heavy, but nice for long rides in CA gravel where it is very dry and unclear whether there will be water. I've also used it on a hike and will probably take it kayaking this summer too. Tons of pockets, comfy to wear, overall a great vest!
Minimalist, dependable, and flexible hydration
The Velocity 3 vest is a solid all-around hydration vest that is thoughtfully designed and works well in the field. The hydration system is dependable and always accessible thanks to the magnetic stays, but the pack is also useful as a lightweight minimalist pack without the hydration (though not so much for carrying anything hard or odd shaped). I’ve used it mainly for mountain biking, but it could be great for day hikes, walks, or jogs. The materials and build are solid, as I would expect from Osprey. I like that all the surfaces that contact the body (the straps and inside back lining) are mesh over a matrix structure; this helps with breathability and I don’t take the pack off and have obvious sweat marks where it contacts. The zipper works well, as do the bungie cords on the back, and the hydration system is held in place snuggly with the magnets. The two chest clips work well and stay attached, though I feel like the tend to let out gradually so that I need to tighten them periodically. The best design touches, though, are the storage areas built into the fronts of the shoulder straps, including glasses holders on each side. I am able to carry my phone on one side, zipped securely, and a multitool and flat repair on the other, also zipped away. It’s a sneaky amount of space! The black color looks sleek and I like the way the pack sits tight to the body all over, so that it “disappears” once I start riding and bounces very little. The only downside, and this may be obvious to some, is that the lack of “structure” to the pack and back lining makes it uncomfortable to carry anything other than hydration or clothing layers (i.e., anything hard or pointy is not pleasant to carry). In that way, this is a true minimalist hydration pack, but it does that job very well. Small gripes aside, this is now may go to for rides, and I can leave my water bottle at home.
Too Small
Was really excited to receive the hydration vest until I tried to wear it. I am an XL and the tag said L/XL. I was unable to put it on so I had a hiking buddy that was smaller than I am try to wear it. She struggled getting it in, also. Reading the other posted reviews, I agree, I would not recommend this product.
Wanted to love it
Wanted this vest for running but My phone (galaxy s22) didnt fit in the pocket and the added firmness in the pocket doesnt allow the vest to sit flush against chest so it has the potential to chaffe the armpit and the large buckles on the sides stick out to the point of hitting my elbows
Too small
I have an Osprey hydration pack that I’ve used for five years gravel biking and was looking to switch to a vest. This one doesn’t fit, my chest circumference is 42” and 46.5” across my chest. Apparently women need to be flat chested.
Good Pack
I have not been able to run or hike with this pack yet due to recent ankle surgery; however, I have tried it on and the fit is great. There are several well-placed pockets to store snacks, phone, sunscreen, etc. looking forward to being able to use it outdoors.
