Portable & Functional

I primarily purchased this 720 roof box because it can be easily loaded/unloaded on my own. In contrast, my full-size Yakima roofbox weighs twice the amount and requires 2 people to safely handle. This INNO 720 replaces an INNO 660 that warped in the sun. The 720 is obviously not as quiet as the aerodynamic 660, but it's still relatively low profile. I expect the 720's ridges to prevent it from shriveling in the heat like my ill-fated 660. Also, the 660's shiny finish scratches easily (even a brush with natural bristles will leave abrasions), whereas the 720's more rugged finish appears more impervious to scratching. Factors that led to me to this purchase: 1. Lightweight. 2. Has a handle! It's so much easier to carry like a suitcase, and provides a secure grip when lifting overhead. 3. The locking latches are external, so lesser likelihood of gear interfering with closure vs. internal locking mechanisms that can be finicky when the box is full. If you've ever struggled turning a key in fear of bending/breaking it, you know what I'm talking about. 4. When not in use, the box can be stored vertically against a wall, either on its long or short edge to minimize its storage footprint. 5. It's 5" shorter in height than my full-sized box, which is what I needed to clear more covered parking lots. Minor downsides of the 720: 1. It's a bit noisy at highway speed compared to the 660, but I was expecting it due to its angular shape and protruding elements (external handle and dual locks). I believe the pros above outweigh this con, so I'm maintaining the 5 stars. 2. Single-sided opening, though on the upside, it does contribute to the lower overall weight. Also, less moving parts to malfunction. Since this is a rated review, I'm not subtracting a star because this box is symmetrically twin-tipped, so you can mount it in either direction to have the opening on the driver or passenger side.

Love it.

We bought this roof gear case when we needed to fit an extra person in our car for a trip to the beach and worried we couldn't fit all our stuff in the car. We figured it would be helpful to have for car camping and ski trips as well. Fits perfectly on our 2019 Outback, very low profile and aerodynamic. The clearance in the hotel garage was 6'8" and we cleared it with inches to spare. So lightweight and easy to maneuver. The smart lock system is very easy to use. We fit so much stuff in it, and can't wait to use it again. It's not for suitcases but you can squish a ton of other stuff up there like beach canopies, towels, skis, tents, etc. It also poured rain on our drive home and everything inside stayed dry. Our only critique is that it would be nice if it opened from both sides instead of only one but honestly that's just a nitpick. Very glad we made this purchase.
