[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The wind proofing on these pants is actually nuts, while we were on top of a windy ridge line I could barely feel the wind! They hold up really well in the durability side of things as well. Had a few foot jams and knee bars were my pants were rubbing against the granite pretty bad and haven’t had any issues with them. The sizing is definitely a European style, so tighter around the waist. I would go up a size in the waist if you want a looser fit!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Runbold SO Guide Pant is a lightweight softshell climbing pant packed with all the features that make a great alpine climbing and hiking pant. It features body-mapped reinforced fabric over the knees, zipped pockets (two hand, one back, one thigh), a shock cord around the cuffs, and a trimmer fit that's perfect for layering under a harness. An adjustable strap with Velcro on either side fine-tunes the fit, backed up by standard belt loops. For me, the Large fit spot-on for a 34" waist and 32" inseam. The pant is built with a tough fabric that has a decent amount of stretch. Personally, I like to add a static belt to climbing pants with generous stretch, and this one fit comfortably under both a harness and a backpack. While the hand pockets may seem small at first, their design is smart, preventing them from getting hung up under the leg loops of a climbing harness. The thigh pocket easily fits my large cell phone without any issue and never felt cumbersome while climbing. A zippered back pocket rounds out the storage, making it my go-to spot for car keys or a secure place for my phone while on route. The standout feature of the Runbold Guide for me is the fabric. It feels highly breathable during high-output movement, yet it maintains a DWR finish and an abrasion-resistant feel—all while being supple and stretchy. It's alchemy, I guess. I would highly recommend these pants for anyone looking for a 3-season climbing pant or a 4-season layer. The trim fit combined with the fabric's stretch accommodated a thin pair of baselayers with ease, and they didn't feel bogged down when I layered a hardshell pair of ski pants over top. This versatility is awesome for our PNW alpine routes that start below the treeline. Mammut gave me this free product to try. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the fit of these pants. The material is thin and breathable. The knees are ripstop and the rest is stretchy material it’s all uniformly stretchy. The hip adjustment is also clutch for fine fit adjustment and the articulated cut facilitates plenty of movement. Very good pant, semi durable enough, I haven’t developed any runs or pulls in the fabric. There are also adjustable cuffs if you want to tighten it up.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mammut gave me this free product to try. Almost a great pair of pants. They are very comfortable, moves with you well, and very functional. However, the main pockets on the front of the pants are too shallow. I know phones are larger nowadays but I have a pretty standard sized phone, and the shallow pockets don't allow my phone to sit far enough down and zip up the pocket. So know I always have a corner of my phone sticking out from the pocket. Everything else is great, that is my one improve mark for these pants. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These pants are insanely comfortable, breathable, and stretchy. Great for climbing, hiking, and everyday use. They aren’t super thick so they are better as a 3 season pant, but they are great. Only thing holding me back from giving them a perfect score is the front pockets are tiny and shallow. Barely enough room for a phone and not much else. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.
Very well made pants durable and comfortable. Only complaint is that the front pockets are a little too shallow
