It is the most comfortable walking/hiking shoes I have ever worn. It offers 100% perfect grip and totally amazing feel.
Normally I would go up half a size when buying boots so that I can wear heavy socks, but based on other reviews, I decided to purchase these in my regular shoe size. I am very happy I did. I did not realize these boots were supposed to be of the barefoot variety when I ordered them from rei.com, but Xero includes a set of insoles. I used those and added a second pair for additional padding. They still have enough room in the wonderfully wide toe box for me to wear a pair of medium thick socks. My first use was on a short day hike in Sedona that has some rocky stretches. The boots are so light, which I really like, but they also grip the rocks without sticking to them, and they have good ankle support. I feel very light on my feet. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase. They are perfect for day-hiking. I find them to be preferable to the clunkier hiking shoes i was using before with the added advantage of ankle support.
