Multi-season and versatile gloves

The REI Trailsmith Gloves are an example of form meeting function. Crafted with sustainability in mind, these gloves elevate comfort and offer a softer texture than leather. Although they are soft, they are durable enough for various activities, including outdoor tasks and daily chores. The immediate impression upon using these gloves is their exceptional balance between luxury and practicality. The leather-like finish gives them a refined aesthetic, but the material is softer and more forgiving on the hands, making them perfect for extended use. The gloves feel sturdy, ensuring they can withstand wear and tear, while maintaining a fit that is comfortable and not restrictive. A standout feature of these gloves is their insulated layer, which makes them highly versatile across various climates and seasons. Whether braving the cold during a skiing session or tackling spring gardening in the yard, these gloves provide consistent warmth without causing overheating. This adaptability makes them a pair of gloves I’ll use for activities throughout the year. In summary, the REI Trailsmith Gloves blend style, practicality, and resilience. I’m thankful to have these as an addition to my gear collection. If you're an outdoor enthusiast or someone who simply appreciates high-quality gear, these gloves are worth considering.

Tough and Cozy

Trailsmith gloves are tough and cozy, tough enough for cutting/hauling wood and stylish enough to wear out on a cold day. The synthetic material feels like leather and stood up to a heavy days use of clearing limbs and trees. The fleece lining is too warm for summer months but perfect for fall/winter and will become my winter truck gloves. I was impressed by their water repellency while limb clearing early in the morning. Overall, a great pair of gloves for chores, the trail, or town.

Use to be leather, now it's garage plastic

Why in the heck would REI change such a well loved, and reviewed leather glove with a fake material? I have owned the previous version of this glove for years that was made with genuine leather, as does my family. Mine were left on the top of the truck and alas, they're someplace in-between Washington and Oregon. So I went to pick up another pair, and a pair for my Father and immediately noticed they are not even close to being what they recently were. They use to be a great, lightly lined leather glove. I'd warm them up and use Sno-Seal to waterproof and condition the leather. Now it's just plastic materials that can be waterproofed since it's fake and are garbage. No looking at online companies to try and find a replacement.

Reliable, Durable, and Well-Fitting

These gloves are perfect for a mix of weekend chores and outdoor volunteering, and they’ve really impressed me. They feel sturdy and well-crafted - ideal for hauling firewood, clearing brush, and especially tough when dealing with thorns. The grip and protection are excellent, and they’ve held up beautifully through some demanding jobs. I wear a size small and found the fit to be very true to size. They felt snug and secure while handling various tools, yet still flexible and easy to move in- something I really appreciated during long work sessions. One thing to note: the fleece lining adds a nice level of comfort and warmth, which is great for cooler days. But during a hot summer afternoon, I definitely noticed my hands getting a bit sweaty. That said, for year-round, heavy-duty use, these gloves are a solid pick and a great value. I’d definitely recommend them!

Great vegan option!

I normally use leather gloves but appreciate having this option - these gloves will be a perfect gift for a vegan friend. When stacking wood and doing heavy yard work my hands felt well-protected. I do think that leather is likely more breathable - I will appreciate these gloves more in the winter, they seemed hot for summer. Sizing was perfect! The fit is snug but flexible.

This is sad

Why in the world would you replace a perfectly good leather glove with a plastic glove? This is just sad. You make it look like leather, wear like leather, it's priced like the leather glove it's replacing, but instead, you made it out of plastic.

Not as good as the leather version

Had the leather version of these, was the best gloves I ever owned. Had to return these as they were no where near as good. Didn’t breathe, stiff and didn’t break in. Please bring back the leather version.

Switched material- why?!

I went to buy another pair of my favorite gloves and was very disappointed. Felt stiff and cheap. Thought maybe I had the wrong glove since my old pair were the nicest leather. Nope- rei cheapened an old reliable seller. Another typical money grab move by a corporation posing as a co-op

Solid gloves that are warm and tough

I have been using these gloves in the yard and on some overnight backpacking trips. They are warm (fleece lined gloves are always good for cold mountain mornings) and have a nice feel (I don't think they are leather, but they give a "quality product" feel). They have proven well for everything from chopping wood to cooking. My only concern is that they don't provide much dexterity, so if you are doing much more than working with larger tools, you should take them off.

Tough, well-fitting gloves.

I really like these work gloves. I a petite woman with small hands and am always finding gloves to be too large. The small fits me comfortably, with not too much extra room. These gloves are great for moving wood and while doing repairs/renovations at the house, like building raised gardening beds. They allow for a good grip on objects. I will be backpacking next week in the Wind River range and will take these along. They seem well-constructed.
