I bought this about 3 weeks ago training in the hi-desert for a 1/2 marathon. I've used it so far on my longer runs of 6, 7, & 8mi with the included front hydro-paks and it's been a dream. I've only needed 1 of the 500ml flasks so far but I've been filling both to get used to what it will feel like. I was right on the line between sizes so I went up and that was definitely a good choice. I still have room to tighten it down, but it likely would not accommodate a jacket/vest very well if I'd chosen the smaller size. The pockets for gels, phone, car key etc have been nice. I haven't even gotten to use the back pocket options yet. I love it!
Been on a few runs with this already. It fits well and doesn’t rub as well as holding all my equipment and water that I need!
Wore this for the London marathon, worked great, no complaints
This is my first vest ever - my best friend who is an ultra runner, asked me to be his pacer for his 100 miler! So I needed a vest... and bestie told me I had to go Salomon. Long story short I thought this vest looked the coolest and had everything I needed to do as much of my friends ultra as I could! (I ended up only doing a 30k cause my flight got delayed and I was late af lol) This vest was a GAME CHANGER - I could fit SO much in there - both flasks, tons of snacks, chafe cream, sunglasses, phone, keys, wallet, spare socks, bandaids, etc etc etc AND the best part - no movement, no chafing, pure comfort. It's more comfortable than my running BELT - how is that possible??? Needless to say I am forever loyal to Salomon now, thank you <3
This is my second Advanced Skin 5. I purchased my first 2 years ago and it's been with me through 6 ultras and all the training that came with them. My first vest is still in great condition and I will continue to use it. The only reason I'm making this second purchase is because my first vest is all black and I'd like a lighter color for my summer training and races. I've tried other vests and have never been more satisfied than I am with Salomon. I should also mention that my orginal flasks are still in great shape as well!
I bought this vest in anticipation of training for an Ultra Marathon. I've done a couple of long runs with this and don't have any issues - it fits snug around my chest and water pockets allow for enough throughout the run. Love the front pockets for extra food storage. I also run with a pouch for my phone and Carb packs, but this allows for extra - would probably fit the phone too, just like running with it in my pouch. It breaths well, but still takes on sweat - but it's also been 80 degress+ when I run.
I bought the ADV Skin 5 in preparation for a 50 mile Ultramarathon last month. Having never used a running vest before, I expected to hate it. I got used to running with it way quicker than I anticipated. The multiple drawstrings allow for it to fit as snug as you’d want. I was able to fit 6 bars and 8+ gels in the elastic pockets along with my phone in the zip pocket. The back compartment is perfect for a shell and any other miscellaneous stuff you have can go nicely in the pole area. Worth the investment!
This is such a great running vest. No bounce or chafing. The elastic across the chest is amazing. For larger busted ladies this is the solution.
Purchases about 2 months ago in preparation for Ragnar Trail. Trained with it and then wore it through 3 trail loops and had zero issues. Very comfortable and the hydration flasks worked as designed. Pockets were great for gels and also made it easy to stuff in gloves, boggan, and pullover after I started on a chilly night run and warmed up. I have 2 things I'd change; the vest needs a zippered waterproof pocket that easily fits a phone. I made the mesh zippered pocket work, but it's not ideal. The second is that I tried using the back bladder, but even after watching the videos I had trouble getting the tubing fed through and in the right places. Finally got fed up and just tossed an extra hydration flask in. The back bladder will get returned. Even with the critiques, I love this vest and would highly recommend.
Just bought my 2nd adv skin 5 and while it has all the hallmarks of good quality the changes from the old version are huge down grade. Not sure who field tester this before it went to market but they should be fired. The small pocket near the back of your neck is now a giant hole that you have to remove the vest to dig things out, the stretchy pocket that goes around your back no longer is connect to the front so you lose pocket space. Truly let down.
