Best, most versatile small daypack I’ve ever used.
I bought this on impulse using my dividend. My intended use was for carrying my helmet, water, and layers when climbing Mt. Bachelor ski area on alpine touring skis when there’s no need to carry avalanche safety gear. This pack holds a puffy jacket, my helmet, water, and food flawlessly. Skins fit nicely under the outer flap after removing the helmet (I had to attach some strings on my helmet to hold it in place when wedged into the outside flap). Like all Osprey packs I’ve used, it carries a load extremely well and comfortably. The organization of pockets is brilliant. It even carries skis well. Pretty amazing for what I presume was intended to be a mountain biking pack, an application I’ll use if for on big days this summer, along with hiking.
Raptor 14 - a comfortable & cleverly designed MTB backpack
I’ve found this light, low volume backpack amazingly comfortable right from the get-go! Loads of clever storage pockets, a tool roll & a great bladder pack for hydration. Due to the mesh padding system it also seems to reduce those sweaty areas that you sometimes get from wearing a backpack. Very pleased with this biking pack. 👍
Ideal mtb hydration pack
My old raptor 14 (red) was many years old and still going strong, but wanted a new colour so bought a black one, goes with anything … some nice touches have updated it to be even better, amazingly good
Fit is very comfy
Used it for XC and Singletrack Reds and Blacks and its great. I barely remember its there, It doesnt move around or swish around when full, it feels very much apart of me. The hip pockets are much better than Ive tried, I can actually open and close them with one hand with no problem. It has good pouches inside, the bladder section which opens from the arm strap which it also secures. It has a large inside section, a half section and then the front section with pockets inside for keys etc. It then has the stretch stash pocket which is tightened by the side straps, which can fit a half shell helmet or a bulky jacket. It also has the bottom tool roll pocket. 14L was perfect for a full days ride with packed lunch, warm and wet kit, aswell as all the tools. I used a smaller bladder as the standard is 2. 5L, but the section holds it well and routes the straw up over the shoulder. The material outer is good, not sure if full waterproof, but kept all mud and light rain out, then i gave a quick squirt with a hose to clean and it was done. The back doesnt make me get sweaty and the hole airy aspect works well for british summers. I have another bigger opsrey cycling bag and i would choose this one every time.
