5L=2L water and 3L space
There is no O-ring that needs food grade silicone to periodically lubricate. Although a reminder is printed on the bag, it appears that is only if you separately purchase and install the upgrade Plug-N-Play. On the hip pack my family gifted me, the tube which came with the hip pack has small barbs but certainly no O-ring and no easy disconnect. I could not get the tube off using a hairdryer. Immersing the whole bag in a sink of uncomfortably warm water, I was able to remove the tube with my bare hands, with no visible damage and certainly not the crushed connector like the reviews which used a pliers. Internal baffles inside the bag, and a mini-buckle which you insert through the clip atop the bag to keep it upright, are nice touches
