No blisters on a 1 night, 2 day 20 mile slog
I paired the Darn Socks up with my trusty ole Brook's Cascadia for my first overnight backpacking trip. Disclaimer I do run trails a lot, have done a lot of day hikes with a small pack so I knew these shoes were good for me, but had never carried a full pack over this many miles before. So, naturally, we had two days of rain and thunderstorms for our trip. Hung the socks out (in the shelter) during the night and while not perfectly dry in the morning they were good enough to hike a second day in (I mean they were just going to get soaked again instantly anyways). No blisters or hot spots for the 20 miles and 3~4 inches of rain on the AT.

Top Band Too Tight
I had to give these to my daughter. I got the large size (shoe size 10.5), but they still hugged my lower calf so tightly they left marks on my legs. I love that they have a money back guarantee but this is a truly bad design flaw. I have to be careful of blood clots and this kind of problem could be bad as well as uncomfortable..

They're good

I have had these for over a year and a half. I love them. I have purchased more. Durability: They have held up well. They still look good, with about once a week wear. The occasional weekend long hike or trip. No special treatment, just thrown in the wash and dryer. Comfort: These are comfortable. Good cushion in the foot bed. My go to when I know i have a lot of time on my feet. Warm in cool weather, still comfortable in the summer. I live in NC, I have worn these in 100+° F. I was sweaty, but my feet were the same temperature as rest of me, not over warm from insulation.

Inconsistent

I really like this brand and have had good luck with them. I ordered two pairs of these socks and the funny thing is that one pair is about an inch shorter up the ankle than the other. They are the exact same size and design but inconsistent in the length. It doesn't affect the sock but I found it odd. I like the bit longer length better. Why so inconsistent?

Light Weight Sock for Summer? No Go!

These are good quality socks. I gave them a one for those folks like me who like a thicker sock and might be thinking that a thinner sock would be good for the hot weather hikes. These are too light and thin. I guess I like my cushioning. They may be perfect for those who prefer thinner socks.

Made my feet super hot

I wore these for a 5 mile hike in the summer (CO). My feet felt like they were burning up the whole time. Got huge blisters on both my feet. I’m also used to super slim socks and the “light cushion” at the ball of the foot of these socks was probably too much for me. That combined with the excessive heat build up did not work for me. I’ll try them again in the fall and see if they work then

Versatile and comfortable

Nice mid-weight sock that holds up well. I have an older pair, just like this, that I wear all year round. My shoe size 9.5 wide so need to buy size large. The medium Darn Toughs just feel too small although the size guidelines would suggest that would be the right size.

Too tight

I purchased several different Darn Tough socks for both my husband and I. Lengths were as expected but all were way too tight for comfort, though we both are slender built. I wear size 7 shoe and ordered M. Even husband's socks were too tight on me. I think they got carried away with the spandex. Gave them all to the thrift store.

Best light hiking socks ever

These are the perfect lightweight hiking sock, my all-time favorite. Durable tough fabric, but still super comfortable. Just enough padding in the right locations, don't bunch up. I already came back and bought more, and so did my husband as they are now his favorite too. I can't think of anything negative to say.

Not Enough Padding 4 a Hiking Boot

These socks would be good if you wear a tennis shoe to hike but if you wear hiking boots, there is not enough padding in the toe or heel. I've hiked in Colorado for 40+ years and have tried various hiking socks. The best: Not 2 padded and Not 2 thin: Just right! Tough to find.
