Great out of the box, Just like all my other Hokas

Just received a pair of these. When I saw these were coming out I was excited to get a pair. First impressions... Out of the box they feel great. Lighter than my Chacos. I've been wearing them on around The property for about 4 hours and they feel great! I'll have to play with the velcro adjustments but I think I should be able to get it dialed right in.

Versatile & Plush, Good Water Sandal

Good water sandal. Sole is grippy on stream crossings, strap system allows a secure fit, light, fast dry. I carry these in my daypack for water crossings, which we have a lot of in the PNW, especially in the spring months or an after a good rain. Also good for canoe & kayak trips. They do not offer a lot of protection but I generally wear them with socks.

Overall, a good entry into this field

I wanted to try this sandal when I saw that Hoka had come out with something for walking on various terrain. I think it is a pretty good first effort in this line. The foot support is as good as one would expect from Hoka, and gets better with wear. The sizing is comparable to their slides and flip-flops. The tread seems durable. The strapping, however, could use a little tweaking. The straps wrap the foot well. There is the problem common to all sandals on the trail; it is easy to kick a pebble under one's foot. And the elaborate strapping makes it actually a little harder to dislodge the pebble without using fingers or even having to take off the sandal. The fit is not quite right either, in my experience. There are three points of adjustment. The front seems adequate. The strap at the clip (awkwardly placed on the outside of the foot) is the most important, and keeps the foot from slipping forward. The heel strap, however, is hard to tighten, at least sufficiently for my foot. The Velcro strip is not long enough to allow the strap to be tightened as much as I would like. So, walking gives the sensation of a slide or flip-flop. I don't use these on difficult trails, however, so I am getting used to it and don't find it reason to give up on the shoe.

Hoka god start

These are true Hoka comfort. I love these sandals. Helped with heel pain. Most comfortable sandals I have had. My only criticism is the main tighten clips never stay tight. I am constantly pulling them tight.

Next level impressive, and heres why...

Everything you would expect from Hoka and more. This "sandal" has a large footprint making it super stable and that plush Hoka cushioning that we all love. Plus the Vibrant resoleable, waterproof soles that just top it all off. It is very easy to adjust and once you find that sweet spot it is almost unreal! All of this and its a sandal. Finding out that you could send them in to be resoled was the thing that just made me say, "Wow"! No hot spots, no blisters, just comfort. And heres the thing...compared to other high end sandal brands, they are priced relatively the same! For what your getting it just cant be beat in my book. I wear them with socks, only black ones, lol. But that just feels the best to me. Very true to size, and imo really couldnt be improved in any way. I prefer the nearly all black version and thats it in a nut shell. I remember when I first tried them on in store, I took maybe 4 steps and said, "Yep" and thats it. Please, go out and at least try them on. Now these are not birks, these are an active, outdoor sandal. Made for everything from water to just walking around the yard. Or going on errands as they wear so well I forget that Im even wearing a sandal half of the time. I either own all main sandals company's products, or have at a minimum have tried them on and these really are in a class of their own. Great job on Hokas first open toe sandal and looking forward to next summer!
