Walking on clouds!

Incredibly comfortable and the new outsole appears to be much more durable as there is significantly more Vibram. Also love the new aesthetic and a tougher toe box. For those coming from the Kaha 2, just be aware you will likely need to size up half a size as the toe box does appear to be a little narrower in this version. I found a half size up fit perfectly. So excited to put hundreds of miles on these!

I have purchased a couple of pairs of Kaha2s in a size 10 and they fit very well. I recently purchased a pair of Kaha 3s in a size 10 and my toes were crushed against the front of the sole. Tighter width wise as well. REI should inform customers about the disparity in sizing. These are worthless to me.

Best Kahas yet

I loved my original Kaha GTX boots and had a total of 8 pairs. I hike a lot... Additionally, I did not care for the heel build on the Kaha 2's and so kept finding and buying Kaha GTX for the run of the 2's. Now the 3 is out and I am back in my happy place. In fact the 3's are everything that was great about the GTX but maybe a touch more heavy duty (certainly the lace hooks feel industrial strength). As ever, Kahas feel like a whole different world as far as comfort is concerned when compared to anything else I have tried. You can put them on right out of the box and hit the trails. (perhaps not too far on the first one.). I don't have wide feet and they fit me like a dream. I'll let those with wide feet opine on their experience. This an easy boot to wear all day, whether hiking the trails or the malls. Ankle support is stellar, cushioning sublime. You should at least add them to the mix you're considering. Personally, I won't wear anything else.

To tight around the toes

I loved my Kaha 2 GTX because of the wide toe box (plus of course the incredible waterproofing, cushioned midsole and soft supporting uppers). The Kaha 3 looks almost the same but is tighter around the fore foot and especially the toes. I normally where a 10.5 boot, but this was a problem even in the size 11 I ordered. I don't know why they made this change. Hoka's a known for their comfort and fit around the toes. Luckily, I was able to buy another Kaha 2 and I hope it will last until a (hopefully) improved Kaha 4 comes out. Other than this, the boot looks great as expected.

Too narrow to consider

This boot appears to be well-made, but it is way too narrow. In fact, I don't see how anybody can wear this boot comfortably at all without already having a narrow foot. I usually wear a size 10, and I went all the way up to an 11.5 in my attempt to gain some extra space for my toes. I put them on out of the box in preparation for a walk around the block, but I couldn't even make it out of the house. I was developing hot spots on both pinky toes within minutes. Unless you have a narrow foot, I'd stay away. Too bad, because it looks like a quality product otherwise.

No Comfort Gains and Quality Problems

I bought these Kahas hoping that, like my Hoka Cliftons and Transports, they’d help my turf toe injury (a torn ligament under the ball of my left big toe) . Unfortunately, they didn’t help my turf toe compared to my Salomon hiking boots or the Altra Olympus 5 hiking boots I’ve since tried and liked. Also, some of the stitching holding the leather that the upper inner lace loops are attached to began coming undone after one easy three mile hike. My feet also felt awful in these after a 2-mile hike with a fairly light overnight backpack. I returned them. Also, I’m a woman and bought men’s because I found the toe box very short in the women’s sizes, meaning it was tight top to bottom and squeezing my toes. If I had bought women’s, I would’ve needed a half size larger than my regular 9. I do wear custom orthotics, so I recognize those take up more space in the shoe than regular insoles.

Comfortable well made boot

Well made boot and initially very comfortable. Best inner sole that I have ever tried. I have wide feet and the boot is cut wider then normal but still was not wide enough for my comfort. If you have a narrow foot I would recommend this boot

Surprisingly Hoka makes 1 of the best hiking boots

I wasn't originally a Hoka fan. I typically wear Salomons, La Sportiva, and I have some Merrell shoes, etc. This year I would open my mind to all brands and look at boots, because last year I twisted an ankle in my favorite trail runners and my joints were also swollen and hurting from hiking up and down a long mountain hike. I tried out essentially every boot on the market and the Hoka Kaha 3 was clearly the most comfortable, roomy in the toe box, and had the most cushioned underfoot feel when I took steps straight the box while somehow still providing stability as well as some of the best amazing ankle support I tried on. I was really surprised that with light cushioned socks, my feet didn't get too sweaty on a summer hike. I also now understand till now just how important it is to have that little bit of extra wiggle room both on top and in the front of your toes and how much that helps with comfort and avoid things like blisters, even seemingly gives your foot room the breathe in general. I didn't think I would like the Hokas. The traction is pretty good even though I know the Salomon and La Sportiva traction i really love too and kno how capable they are but as much as I like they're products, this time I had to put fit and comfort first and looks and some other category second. I've got several boots in my closet but I wasn't chosing them for hikes because they would give me blisters, were overkill, or make me sweat but with these Hokas, I want to wear boots again. I tried the Hoka Annacapa Breeze but I didn't get the same support from them as this Kaha 3. They're made a little less robust, the Kahas felt better, and unless your just looking for a more beginner boot and not something that can take you through some technical trails with roots and rocks while still being able to cover lots of ground, I'd probably skip them all together and just get these. Infact I don't think there are any boots that offer as much long distance comfort and solid ankle and foot support as these. The Merrell Moab 3 Mid were surprisingly comfortable especially for the price but the support especially at the ankle can't match these and the Kaha 3 packs a bit more cushion but I still hangout in the Merrells because the non-waterproof version is really nice for hanging out, running to the store, doing yard work in warm weather, looking cool, and you can very easily and spontaneously tackle random trails nearby if the need arises. It has plenty of comfort for daily activity but for long days of hiking and uneven terrain, the Hoka is just my go to from now on.

60 mile review

I wanted to wait after several hikes before adding in my opinion of these hiking boots. After 60 miles of various terrain and conditions these boots are perfect. They remind me of my Speedgoats just with ankle support. I remember reading quite a few “Cinderella and the glass slipper” type of reviews. No hiking boot is going to be perfect and people need to understand that. If you’re looking for a lightweight durable hiking boot this is your pair.
