Solid upgrade. Runs very large.
I tried these in-store and they felt just like the previous version. I love that they are lightweight, stable, flexible, have a very spacious toe area, and they take my orthotic insoles nicely. Speed hooks for the laces were a good upgrade. I found the sizing was quite large. My size twelve LP7s are the same length as the size eleven LP Hiker 3s. Consider sizing these down. They're too new for me to know if they are more durable than the previous model. I would not recommend these for somebody who is seeking a stiff and supportive shoe.

Great Fit, Questionable material choices.
Great in terms of fit and everything but the grey side sole material is not high quality and started getting torn up almost immediately from moderate use. Had them 2 months and about to try to return them. Also a hole started on the toe. Had other Loan Peaks in the past that were way more durable in both ways.

Newby, coming from Nike sfbb1

I have been buying Nike sfbb1, for years and love them for everything, they allow me to feel the terrain and the grip plus comfort has kept me a solid customer, but buying them has become an issue. So I went to REI and tried on all the brands, looking for a new love. Tried on all the top brands and wasn’t impressed. Then the salesperson said try Altra, I was impressed and bought a pair. The zero drop is a great and didn’t realize the benefit, stretching out my lower back, wow. And then the comfort and fit is great. I can only hope they last years like my Nike’s have, I still have the last 3 pairs, only retired because they got ugly, still used for painting or dirty work. I am impressed with my new Altra , except out of the box they’re ugly!

True to size

These are the closest to the original lone peak hiker that I've found. Tried newer versions and didn't like the high front on my ankle. Do not listen to the reviews on running big, they fit just like any other lone peak.

awesome boot!

Love these boots! 🥾 I am very familiar with altra lone peaks.. all the way back to the 4s. Im not sure why some are saying not that durable? I beat the heck out of these boots.. i did the high peaks loop and summited mt marcy in them. I also do lawn service, and used them every other day prior to the high peaks loop hike. They are the most comfortable boot.. they are a mix of the lone peak altra shoe, a high top, and a boot. Also very good ankle support.. Don’t be afraid to try them! They do seem to be a smidge bigger that the shoe..but it is a boot. I personally wouldn’t size down, as your feet swell on long hikes. I will probably pick up another color way just to have them.

Comfy, fragile boots

These boots are like hiking slippers. Super comfy and flexible, I never feel like I need to get them off after a hike like I do with many of my other hiking shoes / boots. I have a second pair of these coming in now. Negatives: They aren't tough. The description says they're good for walking on gravel and they're not kidding! There's pieces of the cushion hanging off my right boot and the tread's more than halfway worn off both of them after only 2 or 300 miles. The sole is not reinforced and I once bruised the sole of my foot by coming down too hard on a rock while wearing these. If you want lightweight, nimble, super comfortable footwear to wear on tame single track, these are great. If you need something for shale and rocks, you may want to look into something heavier.

Great Boot, Almost could act like a trail runner.

Love the boots, they almost act like a nice mix between a boot and a trail runner. I love the ankle support that it provides and it's super easy to move in. Give it a try on your next hike. I'm sure you won't be disapointed.

Great boots

Super comfy right off the bat. Wide toe box lets your foot have the ability to flex and move as it should. Great ankle support and super grippy tread. I have these in the waterproof version as well.
