$150 for Garbage - do not buy
Complete Garbage- do not buy. Purchased new in May 2025 and have worn during two urban trips (no rough use or hiking) and maybe 2 days of light/normal walking a week. The mesh top tore over the summer and the ankle area has worn through. $150 brand new to garbage in less than 4 months and REI says that is the normal life span of this shoe and sees no issue with that. They will not refund or return and said I could try contacting the manufacturing company if i wanted any customer service. REI has been my go-to for sturdy shoes for years but this time they sold lemons and wont take responsibility for selling a low quality product. If the life span of a shoe is 4 months that should be advertised as below average quality on the box and by the retailer.
Only 6 month lifespan
Super surprised at the drop in quality in ONs over the past years. I had a pair that lasted me years before. My most recent new pair started ripping apart after ~6 months. I was informed by the manager at REI that these shoes are only expected to have a 6 month lifespan. The corporate greed is out of control!
Used and damaged
I was sent shoes that have clearly been used dirty on the inside and one of the insoles are damaged
Why change a good thing? Old model is way better.
Had several older cloud models and loved them. The new Cloud 6 model is much sloppier, wider, and feels nowhere near as good as the old model. Way less supportive and my feet get tired wearing them. ON - please go back to the fit of the old model.
Not as good as the older models...
I have had many pairs of the previous versions of this shoe. I love them so much that I have had multiple pairs of different colors at a time to rotate out during the week. I work on a University Campus and take several walks per day of several miles and up until this version I've loved this shoe. I purchased two pairs of the Cloud 6 to replace the old Cloud 5 that I loved so much only to find that they are wider (sloppier on my feet) and no where near as comfortable. I've been wearing them for a few weeks and they are causing me foot pain... To prove the point I wore my old Cloud 5s for a couple of days and the pain stopped. This new Cloud 6 is causing my foot pain... and both pairs of different colors feel the same. On has changed this shoe and not for the best... I rely on my shoes to keep me comfortable and I'm afraid that after many years of enjoyment I'm going to have to find something else as I lament the loss of my cherished shoes. Life is too short to have your feet hurt all the time.
Beware the On Cloud 6 sizing
I have owned several pair of On Cloud 5’s that fit perfectly, when the On Cloud 6’s came out with a thicker sole I felt this would make the shoe more stable…I was WRONG! I wear a 10 1/2 medium, the new On Cloud 6 is at least a half size larger causing my foot to slip and side back and forth in the shoe. This makes the shoe very uncomfortable, sad because the On Cloud 5 was so perfect! Yes, I tried a size 10….too small.
Great everyday shoe
Looks good, easy to slip on, comfy. Great for everyday stuff and good enough for a light workout but I wouldn't seriously run in them.
Disappointing change from Cloud 5 to Cloud 6
Compared to the prior Cloud 5, the 6 is a much higher volume shoe with a sloppier fit. The materials feel cheaper, heel-toe drop is larger. If you felt the 5 was a good fit, you'll likely be disappointed with the 6. I dropped a 1/2 size going from Cloud 5 to Cloud 6 to get a similar fit, but the new shoes is still too wide. If you have a wider foot and the prior 5 was too narrow, this could be good for you. Unfortunately, it now feels more like an $80 shoe than a $160 shoe.
Not the most comfortable shoe.
They were fine up until maybe the 4-5 month mark and then I just noticed them start to not feel the most comfortable. After the sole wears out you start to feel the ground a lot when walking and it doesn’t feel like you have a ton of support there. Also, after about 6 months the laces just snapped and broke randomly when putting them on one day. Probably won’t order a new pair simply because they’ve started to become a little uncomfortable. It’s not inherently a bad shoe but just some small things I wish could be improved like the longevity of the laces and soles. Other than that I really liked them.
