[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have used this tent over several summers/falls...at least 50 times. It's simple to put up! About 5 minutes. It is soooo roomy! My 5'11" husband can stand up with headroom to spare! Lots of extra floor space for thermarests and backpacks/bags.
We have used our Wawona 5-6 times and here are my observations. 1. This is NOT a foul-weather tent. In a strong wind, the tent design allows wind to carry rain under the canopy and spritz everyone inside. 2. If you are unable to zip the bug netting (doors) you will have no defense against mosquitoes, flies, and other critters. There isn't a double zipper that also zips a door in place except for the rain fly. Very bad design. 3. The headroom is great, but, there is so much surface area on the sides that it feels like the tent is going to take off! We were in a squall on Yellowstone Lake and spent 2 hours pushing against the side to keep it down during the storm. You will be well served to get some 12" stakes for the corners and guy lines. 4. The zipper pulls are not reflective and that is an issue when you have to get rid of 32oz of rental beer. 5. This may seem strange, but when you stand up and need something to hang on to, it is pretty much featureless. We ended up stringing para-cord up high from corner to corner to help this situation. 6. Lastly, it does set up pretty quickly for a four-person tent but this doesn't fix the other issues we felt were more important. Set it up in the back yard for your kids in their Jammie's. Yellowstone, Boundary Waters, Cascades are a stretch.
Cannot express enough how this tent meets every expectation of what I hoped it was. It is bigger and more spacious than even the pictures allow and is such a good tent for two people- and allows you both to stand and walk around without elbowing another or feeling claustrophobic like most "4 person" tents do for 2 people. Both of us are under 5'9 but really needed a taller tent because most tents reach as tall as we are, haha. The little front area space is amazing for putting your gear/ boots out underneath without the risk of them being rained on. Highly recommend the footprint for this tent, makes your tent floor stronger.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the tent. Held up well in remnants of tropical depression., sheet of blowing rain. The big downside is apparent design flaw. First time out main support pole bent. I believe it bent because the sleeve bound up instead of sliding into place. Will request a replacement from North Face, but as we all know, the tent has to be sidelined because NF will not simply ship out a tent pole without having first received the defective one. Shame on you NF. Get back to the drawing board and perfect a nearly perfect tent. And acknowledge your design flaw - ship out replacement poles as requested until you get your product fixed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Took my girlfriend on our first camping trip. We were hit with heavy New England summer thunderstorms with heavy rain throughout the night. Woke to a completely dry tent. Very happy with my purchase, great quality, great space...and stayed dry, completely dry. I have had many tents from the other big names over the years and was amazed not a drop of moisture! Well done North Face, great product made for a great weekend of camping.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm in my 50s and don't want to crawl in a backpacking tent all the time. I can stand up and move around easily in this 4 person. Used on a 4 day canoe trip on Upper MO River Breaks in MT. Perfect.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We use this tent for quick car camping tents in the NC mountains. It is easy to pitch and take down. We have only used it one time and it rained and rained. The tent stayed dry!
I have used this in torrential downpour and it kept me dry. Lots of room for me and my two dogs. I love having the extra storage space.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great easy tent for camp sites, back yards, or car camping. Spacious room for a family of 3.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just spent four days in this tent and could not be more happy with it. Easy to set up by my self and held up in heavy rain and even with the roof vents open no water got into the tent. There are also a lot of pockets inside the tent and I had more pockets then I knew what to do with. I was also surprised to find that inside the tent on all four areas where the tent poles are there are small loops that one could use as a clothes line if you wanted to. Another plus is that it has a large vestibule that I was able to use to store my bicycle in when it was raining. Lastly the tent comes with guylines that are already attached to the tent and the rain flay which is a plus as it is a tall tent and will need to be staked down well if you are going to be in a windy area.
