I bought these shoes approximately 3 weeks ago and will be lucky if I get another 3 months out of them. The tongue has lost some of the cushion requiring wearing higher socks so it doesn't rub on the front of your shins. There is far less support or maybe it's softer on the inside of your foot and also has me (a neutral runner) in an over pronation. The bottom is pure foam, no rubber, so the traction is terrible and with only 50 miles on these shoes, they no longer feel safe to run in (think the bottom of a CROC). The upper fabric is heavy and provides poor ventilation. I have no idea why Asics made so many poor upgrades on a classic running shoe. Of note- I use them for running anywhere from 4-16 miles at a time, if I was a walker or limited to runs less than 3 miles these may be okay.
First time wearing Asics and this Cumulus 27 is the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever put on. Perfect cushioning for running without my foot feeling like it’s stepping on mush but also very stable when I’m exercising. I purchased the white and love the style of the shoe. If I didn’t already have so many shoes I would get another color.
3 stars only on 5 the new Cumulus 27s. I'm not a fan of the new design. While they are much lighter weight wise, they seem cheaply constructed. The quality isn't there as in previous versions. Additionally, the tongue is not padded now which is uncomfortable at the least and down right aggravating and irritating to my ankles. I usually adore more Asics Gel Cumulus shoes, having multiple pairs in various colors, but this version is a strong fail for me.
I'm not a runner, but I run up and down the hallways on a busy hospital floor and this is great addition to my work shoe collection. It's very cushioned, comfortable right out of the box, and a cute color - I got the orchid pink. I typically wear a 10.5 in Asics and this shoe is just a bit longer than my other Asics in the same size, but I know that the 10 would be too snug. Overall, I'm pleased with this shoe.
I always wear Asics but was disappointed with this pair. After less than 4 months of use, the thin tongue is fraying and the tread is very worn down. I am not usually hard on shoes and only wear these to walk my dog, so was very surprised about the quality. The change to a foam like sole is not a good one. It just wears away much quicker than the more rubbery soles of my past shoes. ASICS needs to fix this.
I have worn the Asics Gel Cumulus for years and have always been so pleased. However, this purchase, not so much. You have changed the style of the shoe, the tongue is a thin, floppy material whereas it was padded in the past. The shoe style looks big and clunky. It is hard to get on, but once on, is very comfortable. Why change a great product? Not sure I will buy again.
Terrible shoes. Not sure if they changed the model, but I’ve had multiple pairs of gel cumulus and never had a problem, until these. It flared up peroneal tendinitis after only running in them for a mile. I’ve done a couple half marathons in cumulus and never had an issue. Tried to return them, but asics was no help. Bummed because asics were my go to.
Comfortable. 4.5 * The sole is kind of weird compared to previous generations and the shoe overall looks oddly bigger/chunkier than previous Cumulus models. I will say that I don't run in them; I'm a nurse and wear them for 12+ hours at a time standing/walking. After trying two other models as well, Cumulus remains my favorite Asics shoe.
I bought these 3 months ago and only walk my dog and walk on the treadmill in them. The soles are horrible. No traction and look like a used eraser on the bottoms. I should have read other reviews that said similar things, but I didn’t. Now I’m replacing them after 3 months. 0/10 recommend these shoes.
This is my 3rd pair of Cumulus. This version is much stiffer than prior versions. They feel less cushiony and also have a large toe box. I will probably keep them and use mostly on treadmill. Unless they break in quickly, I will likely switch to a more cushiony Asics shoe.
