I live on a farm in mid-west New Hampshire where morning and late-night chores happen in the coldest times of the day. These "gloves? Mittens? Glittens?" work much better for chores that I regularly perform them and need an Index finger. Regular gloves fail because all my fingers are exposed to the cold weather/wind chill. These keep the three lesser fingers warm and I am able to move my Index finger into the warm bunch to warm up when needed. Thank you Outdoor Research! AND NO, I am not receiving anything from the OR or REI for this endorsement. These work well for me and I would recommend them to anyone that has to be outside doing work or exercise or sport in the Very Cold weather.
Couple issues - the thumb lining is not as long as the thumb's exterior lining. So while the index and other fingers fit just perfectly, the thumb pocket is extremely short. Then there is the grip. Not sure I can hold a ski pole, or much else, very well. Thumb and index finger work well but it feels like the other three-finger/mitten section isn't articulated in the correct way. They seem to squeeze separately and make gripping quite difficult. Seem like they would be warm enough, but since I can barely get my thumb in, not sure I will even get to try these out in the cold.
I have been wearing 5 finger gloves my entire life, but for some reason I've been struggling with cold finger tips this year. I bought these with hopes to fix that issue. I like the way they feel and fit, but am admittedly a little disappointed that my finger tips are still feeling cold. I may have to convert to a full mitt and see how that works. Overall this is a very nice glove that feels great though.
The gloves are warm and comfortable thus far, although they’ve not been put through any extreme days yet. Over the cuff three finger gloves are a rarity, so I’m glad to see more of them, as that’s my preferred style. These get bonus points for having a “nose wipe”, as that’s something I’ve found myself really missing on gloves that don’t have them. My only complaint is that the gloves seem to run very large compared to the size charts (of which there are multiple, depending on where you look, and they conflict with each other). I bought a size small pair for my sister as a Christmas gift, and they are large enough that I could wear them with only very slight discomfort, despite the fact that I generally wear a size 9 (or Men’s Large) glove. If you can try them on in person or can exchange them for a different size, I’d have no issues recommending them. If you’re ordering online and won’t be able to exchange them, either because of vendor policies or time constraints, I’d consider other options if you have them.
Great glove. no complaints so far. My favorite part is that the liners are removable and the main glove still has some insulation.
They’re warm and comfortable. The interior lining is easily removed if your hands get too hot. Quality water proofing.
