Lean mean run tracking machine
Great hardware with focused software feature set. I use this primarily for running/trail running and the mapping and training metrics suit me well. I’ve seen a lot of reviews say the heart rate sensor is inaccurate but in my experience it’s exactly in line with my chest strap sensor except for intervals and fast downhills. The app takes a bit of getting used to but it has all the features I want without getting feature bloat. Battery life is amazing for AMOLED(and most MIP displays too) and the materials feel premium.
Suunto maintains their quality
Love this watch. It’s my 3 Suunto over my 40 year running career. Each watch lasted a little over 10 years. Each new one was better. Better charging, better operating system then the internet happened. The display has gotten noticeably better and recently I noticed the wrist data collection is nearly as good as using a chest strap. The watch has never failed during a race or while training. The bands are solid. The buttons on the watch have always worked. At around 10 years or so the display has often failed. I figure after ten years or so of service it is time to upgrade and buy a new one. I’m familiar with how Suunto watches operate so I like them. They have led the field or at least kept up with all the various data analytics that have come along over the years. I think having all the data has enhanced my running and probably kept me from injury when my watch tells me I’m tired or have been pushing the envelope a while. This may be my last watch. I’m 70 years old and I may be running into the sunset. We’ll see.
