Thin

Thin. Advertised for "snowsports" but if you hold it up to a light you can see right through it. Got it to cover my face while snowoarding. Not even gonna try it, the wind will cut right through it.

Great neck gaiter for colder conditions!

This is a great neck gaiter for active sports in colder conditions! Works well as a headband as well! The poly/wool fabric seems to dry faster than 100% wool Icebreaker ones and holds its shape better when sweating. Warmth is comparable to 100% wool 150gr versions from Icebreaker or Smartwool & while not *quite* as soft as these versions this is still extremely cozy! Seems to resist smells about as well as 100% wool versions. Overall I really like the fabric for its mix of warmth, breathability, smell management & quick drying. Highly recommended!

Get the balaclava instead

Was well balanced in providing breathable warmth to the neck, but ended up not being as versatile as the balaclava. It can come down to preference, but given the lightweight nature of this series of baselayers, I found that the balaclava didn't overheat in warmer temps and helped keep my head and neck more evenly covered, even as someone with long hair. If you find yourself as someone who hates putting on a face layer but needs something to be able to pull up for the wind, this is a good option.

thin and the large is still really tight

So this is fine if you have a small head/neck and live in a climate with a mild winter. It's really thin and I'm just an average person. No one has ever said I have a large head or neck and the 'large' is tight. It's not great. I can't imagine how small the regular size is, yikes. I like outdoor research gear for many years, just not this neck tube. Not for the Canadian winters. I kind of regret buying 2 but the sale got me hooked. The 2 layer icebreaker is a better bet for sure.

Warm and guards the wind

I was blessed with a long neck, so keeping myself warm is keeping it warm first and foremost. Because the Ubertube is woven with Merino wool, it keeps the heat in and the wind out. It's great for a warm up before I head out to the trail. When it's really cold (under 20 degrees F), I double it up and it does great under my puffy vest as an added layer when I zip up. The Ubertube can also be twisted and folded over to use as a warm cap. Versatility, too. Gotta love that!

Winter weather game-changer

I didn't expect it to be so warm! It's thin lightweight merino wool, but it's almost too warm to wear if the weather is over 35* (granted, I'm a warm person). It's also much longer than I expected, but I've found that's a positive thing-- I can have it up over my nose, ears, and the back of my head, and the bottom still sits around the base of my neck. And even when it's all bunched up around my neck, the bunched up material is not bothersome at all. A very worthwhile investment!

Long Wide Quick Drying Head Tube

I have big melon head and the XLW fits perfect and doesn't choke me out like some smaller cheaper versions. Worth the money! Dries very quickly and breathes so much better than the cheap polyester stuff. Thin so fits excellent under helmet/hat etc, but warm and protects from the bitter cold. Will be buying more. Just be careful pulling the tag off too hard like me.

Solid neck gaiter with good fit

Fabric is fairly lightweight but works well as a buff. Stays up on my face well when worn as a facemask. Very similar to the Icebreaker Flexi Chute in fabric feel, weight, and sizing. You may want something heavier weight if you're hoping to protect your neck from direct wind, but this is plenty of protection in combination with a jacket collar at -10 C at least.

Warm, comfortable, and thin

I've used this in 20(F) degree temperatures and in wind and snow. I haven't used it in every configuration yet; just two: as a neck gaiter and to cover the face (from the nose and ears down through the neck) in cold wind. It's warm and comfortable. I double layered it when using it to cover the neck and/or face. I own two of them (both colors).

Just what I needed...

I'm pretty finicky about having things around my neck and covering my face. Just got back two days ago from a 3rd Season rifle elk hunt in CO. Temp ranges were signal digit to upper 20's at 10,000'. This gaiter was enough to keep the wind off my skin and still allow enough breathability to satisfy my claustrophobia. LOL!!!
