The fit and the materials of this boot are really great. They would be comfortable except for the fact that the ankles are exposed and the cold and snow get in. They are way too low. They're not really boots in fact, more like shoes. It's impossible to hold pants around them, they always slip off on the back because there is so little wiggle room. You I have to always wear them with good gators that go low on the back, and ironically they don't have gater hooks. I wouldn't have but these shoes but i had to get higher boots replaced and there weren't any other wide models available.
We value and appreciate your constructive feedback.
My Merrell Moab 3 Thermo Mid Waterproof Wide Width boots fit at though they were custom made for me.right out of the box. This and other pairs of Merrell sneakers and boots fit as though I have been wearing them before I unboxed them. I use wide pairs to accomodate my bunions which have more room. I love Merrell footware and will always order them because of their special personal fit from they time they are brand new.
Thank you for sharing your feedback Farris!
I got these boots as a Christmas gift for my husband. He is over the moon about these! When he put them on he said “I can’t believe the tongue is even padded. These are so comfortable!” The next day, we took the dog for a walk and he wore the boots. He couldn’t stop going off about how much he loves these! “I can’t believe how comfortable these boots are, and I’ve never heard of this brand!” Highly recommend these :)
We're so grateful for your review!
Only get them if you have skinny feet. These are my 6th pair of Merrell shoes, and I've never had a problem, always a fantastic experience. However, these shoes are excruciatingly painful because they're so narrow. I actually have growth on the sides of my feet because of these shoes. They weren't exactly cheap, and now I have to find something else. I just hope my feet go back to normal.
Not quite what I expected. The shoe doesn't really snug up to my ankle the way I would prefer. It's a bit stiff around the top that sometimes rubs against my leg. Probably should have stayed with a full size boot. I would have preferred more insulation as they are not quite warm enough for me. I tried them and will wear them until they wear out, but most likely would not buy again.
Perfect for cold weather hiking. Good insulation in both the upper and the sole. True to size. I wear a size 11 running shoe in almost any brand. My foot is wide in the forefoot but otherwise not wide or high volume. I got size 11 and it accommodates heavy winter socks. So you don't have to go a size up for thick socks versus what you wear in the summer.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback with us, Tom!
Shoe is comfy, a warm. Waterproof seems to be good. With a pair of good wool socks, it kept me warm in -30C Norwegian arctic circle weather. The shoe did good with snow and slippery slushy surface, BUT YOU WILL SLIP on icy surface. Save yourself and ignore any claim of ice traction. The only way to walk on real icy surface is with ice cleats.
We value your feedback.
As advertised - they are warm and they are waterproof. I am a huge fan of Merrill's having owned 5 or 6 pair of Moab 2's but even when they are marketed a such, they are not waterproof. Two years ago I did find a pair of Merrill's that were waterproof but when the uppers finally gave way, this particular model had disappeared from their website. Enter the Thermo Mid Waterproof. I don't know if these are the next step in the evolutionary development of the previous outdoor Merrill boot but these are better on every level. They are warm, they are waterproof and they are comfortable for any activity I asked of them outdoors. As a real "waterproof" and insulated boot, you don't want to wear them indoors all day because your feet will sweat, but in the snow or in the rain, they will keep your feet warm and dry. The sole tracks are deep so they offer excellent traction and they give you great confidence, especially in changing conditions and on inclined trails.
Thank you for the great feedback!
The boots are very sturdy and comfortable. The soles give good traction for winter walking. I wear a women’s 12 and got a men’s 10.5. The boots fit well with a pair of Smartwool cushioned socks. I haven’t been in extremes cold with the boots, but they have been comfortably warm in temperatures in the teens.
Thank you so much for the great review!
