Just got these a week ago. They look great. The sole is a little stiff and flat for me, but not horrible. The shoe has two big problems as I see them. The lacing system is terrible - you need four fingers to keep the lower laces tight to tighten the upper d rings. There's also no lace stay on the tongue to keep it from wandering into the shoe. The biggest issue is that the soles are slippery - I slipped and fell on day one. Coming from Keens, these feel like dress shoe soles. Pretty disappointed.
My second pair of these shoes. I have the higher top version as well. Purchased the low cut version for a summer adventure and they worked very well for intended use. The soles are very stiff giving great stability on everything from rocky terrain to cobble stone streets. Even with the stiff sole they have a comfortable ride thanks to a flexible midsole. Can walk and stand in them all day. The lack of a tongue loop was a concern but can’t say it’s a problem. I ended up rigging up a runners loop to hold the heel a bit tighter and works great. In either height these make great travel shoes since they don’t look terrible, waterproof, stable and comfortable for miles. Perfect for a one pair of shoe adventure.
I've been very happy with this pair of shoes from the moment I bought them ~18 months ago. I have used them for multiple daily dog walks in suburban and light woodlands environments, and probably put 1500 miles on them (so far). They are still functional, though well worn (the inner lining of the heels have begun to fray and the soles are worn down significantly). The shoes fit as advertised, and are sturdy, supportive, and comfortable. It is also, in my opinion, more attractive than the vast majority of hiking shoes. Rather than ordering another pair, however, I have decided to take a chance on the Danner N45, since I trust the brand and since that shoe looks even more suitable for wearing around town.
Sturdy footbed. Good support. Fit & finish are top notch. I never give five stars for anything.
Excellent product. Comfortable right out of the box, feels like a sturdy yet not bulky shoe even before being broken in.
