Love this watch!
I have had this watch for a little over a month and it has been excellent. It motivates me to run and their coach plans have been helping me to reach my goal of a sub 25 minute 5k as an 8th grader. I love that it is 90% fitness but still has a lot of smartwatch features.
Brand new and lots of issues
Unfortunately, I purchased this 165 music forerunner to replace my older Forerunner -- but right out of the box i've had nothing but issues with it not working. Not syncing with blue tooth and a constant blue triangle popping for endless resets to get it working. I hope Garmin comes up with a solution soon. Until then - I'm heading back to my ancient Garmin. Bummer.

Good running watch bad heart rate sensor
This is my first garmin watch coming from an Apple SE. As a runner I have loved the training information, the metrics, much better gps and battery life, I have used it in the last three weeks of a half marathon planning and while my Apple Watch kept running out of battery or pausing by mistake this has been great. Furthermore love the pace alerts. The GPS works very well too! The Spotify function works great and is actually easier to synch than the Apple Watch’s. Garmin pay works great too. As someone who mainly uses outlook/ gmail and WhatsApp the functionalities are the same as my Apple Watch. The watch however has one flaw that is a deal breaker: its heart rate monitor is terrible. I have small wrists, have tried different bands and positions and have used it both in long runs as well as in HIIT workouts at the gym where I am using an additional arm heart monitor. Sadly it takes longer than even the gym’s one to record my HR and while running even on a hill at a fast pace it was showing a low HR, so much so that garmin even sent me a free chest strap when I complained. Sadly, this is a deal breaker for me as having a proper heart rate measurement matters a lot. Pros: Running features Battery life Spotify Garmin pay Accurate GPS Cons Size quite big for a small wrist Terrible heart rate monitor
This watch is great but...
I’m a big fan of this watch, especially the 165 model. It has many great features, but I wish I could just get the 165 itself. As an Apple Music user, I was disappointed to learn that the 165 Music version doesn’t support Apple Music. I was willing to switch to the free version of Spotify and use it exclusively for running, but I can’t do that because I need a premium subscription to access music features. Garmin, please consider adding Apple Music to your app store so that users like me can use it seamlessly with our watches, or at least make it obvious, that your partnered music providers require a subscription to be used for your platform.
Light watch i ever had
I bought this for the first time and so nice watch
Great Price with Main Feature for Runner
After 6 months using Garmin products. From Fenix 8, epix 2 Pro, 265 , and now 165. I found 165 is really worthed for basic runner. For sure, it has less data compared to higher model, but, it is really enough. One thing that really missing is training readiness, since i use to be very happy with this feature, but.....i can predict my readiness using other metrics such as sleeping score etc. Lets us think about the price....., even without the feature that i mentioned, it is good saving for our wallet. yes ? yes absolutely. Do not forget to choose the music edition, since it has wifi. really usefull for sync process while you are not with your phone.
Garmin watch was the best decision
When I switched from an Apple Watch to a Garmin, I am being so genuine when I say this, my life has been CHANGED. The Garmin Forerunner is not only great for runners/athletes in general but it is better with heart rate, sleep, etc accuracy. I love all the features in the watch and the interface is great but my only criticism would be that because it has music features, it needs to connect to a Wi-Fi network. This makes sense in terms of being able to download music but it only connects to Wi-Fi networks that aren't hidden and doesn't work with Wi-Fi networks that need browser login. It is also only compatible with 2.4 gHz networks.
Good watch
I got this watch recently and I think it is a very good watch although it does have some down sides, the safety features on the watch are not what I would have hoped for the watch can’t alert your emergency contacts if it is not connected to your phone. Also the battery life with daily use has only lasted up to 7-8 days. Despite the battery life and the safety features the watch is pretty good it has great running metrics with many activities like walk, hike, run and so much more the adjustable wallpaper is a really cool feature in the watch this watch has a great heart sensor and so much more it overall this is a very good watch but needs more safety features.
So far so good
I just made the switch from an Apple Watch (I broke the screen 3x before realizing the Apple Watch wasn’t for me) to the Garmin Forerunner 165. Like all new tech, it took me about 3 days to start enjoying my new watch. Watching YouTube videos really sped up that process. Now I love it. I love the garmin app on my phone, especially the workouts that they suggest for me. The battery life is great, and customizing the face of the watch was my favorite part. Getting all the information that I want right away has been enjoyable. I was also worried about it being waterproof, but I’ve been in the pool 3x and haven’t had any issues. So far I’m a happy customer. Thank you!
Battery life! But so much more!
I bought the Garmin forerunner 165 music because of my frustration with the major “fruit” brand I’ve been wearing having terrible battery life! I couldn’t even get through my last marathon with it!! So frustrating! Once I made the switch to my Garmin forerunner 165 music I have gone a week in between charging and that’s running while listening to music! Since switching I’ve also came to really like the other features as well. Like sleep scores and others.
