Best French press design
That’s the best French press design I have seen so far. No powder leaking up to the coffee after pressed. The ceramic and insulation makes much more convenient than all other glass French presses. I think there could be a very good idea if you design an accessory to adapt for smaller amounts to the same press. I know the gap when the press is totally down is to protect the filter to do not break, but you cold design some adapters to put inside the press, to fill up the gap volume when the powder amount used is less than total capacity. This way you could have same device to be used from 1 till 10 cups, for example. If you want to do 2 cups in the big size French press, you most likely cant.
Amazing Size and Functionality, Bad Copy
The size and sturdy build are the high points, as is the press mechanism. Unfortunately, the handle on my copy was attached too far off center for me to be able to comfortably pour straight into a cup. I have another color of this that I picked up earlier (in navy) and it is great! Straight handle, makes great coffee and I have no trouble with the lid and dribble like some other folks have experienced. My trick with the lid is to not lock it fully. Just make sure it's aligned with the spout section and wiggle it back and forth a bit to make sure it seals, then you're good to go. I have not yet received my exchange for this white copy which will hopefully have a straight handle, but I'm hopeful that the new one will be as good as the navy one I have.
Easy to clean, doesn't leak when pouring
Sturdy, heavy coffee press. I love the way the press separates the grounds with a screen and a plastic shield. Not sure exactly what it does, but I've left cold brew in the press for days after pressing and it doesn't turn nasty the way regular presses do. It's very easy to clean. The screen rinses off without any scrubbing or stuck grounds, unlike any other I've ever used. Also, because the lid goes on in only one direction, you don't have to keep turning it to find the opening like with most presses. About the leaking--mine doesn't leak at all. I have one of each size (kind of an accident, I didn't really need both sizes), and neither leaks. I saw one review which said nothing presses the lid tight so it doesn't seal. This isn't true, and I wonder if some are using it wrong. The lid presses down and twists to snap in place. It takes a few tries to learn the trick, but you can pry up on the lid to be sure it's locked down. It's also possible mine is a good batch and there are some that leak. Don't know. Also, I mostly cold brew, so it's possible steam is messing up some of them, maybe. Anyway, mine don't leak at all. One minor negative--there is a lack of consistency with the handles. Look at a row of them and you'll see the handles aren't all lined up perfectly with the spout. It's like whoever attaches the handle is just eyeballing it. My 64 oz has a very slightly irregular handle. Just enough to trigger OCD or Spectrum issues. Lol. Might want to buy from the store so you can check it out first if that is the kind of thing to drive you nuts.
Great for home and camping use.
My wife purchased the Rambler French Press and, as with all Yeti products that we own, very well constructed. The plunger was stuck at the bottom without the rod attached and since it is a very snug fit, it was difficult to get out. I used my needle nose pliers to grab the plastic area around where the rod screws into the plunger without damaging the inside of the mug. There are now a few teeth marks on the plastic part of the plunger but it will not cause any problems assembling the press to make the best coffee ever. I highly recommend checking that the rod is inserted properly and screwed tightly before placing into the press.
Love the coffee, hate the cleanup
My wife and I both think the Yeti makes far better coffee than our Keurig drip coffee maker. My only complaint is the cleanup after we’ve enjoyed the coffee. The rubber gasket which makes the GroundsControl filter so effective in stopping the brewing process also makes it extremely difficult to remove the lid/plunger assembly. The seal creates a vacuum that is almost impossible to overcome. I finally resorted to inserting the wire loop handle of a small whisk through the pour opening, then between the outer edge of the gasket and the wall of the tumbler to break the seal and release the vacuum. I’d give it five stars if it weren’t for this inconvenience.
Design a better mousetrap
Good, but needs improvement. The coffee that you make out of here is fantastic. To the point that it leaves you wanting more yet the design of the container allows for coffee to remain in there despite how much you try to get it out. The plunger design is very tight and fitting however because of the excess ledge on the lip, it allows for Coffee to remain inside the bottom of the French press. Additionally, the poor spout in my opinion needs to have a cap first to allow the coffee to remain hot. And second to allow more coffee to get poured out. This lip design trap coffee inside the container.
Great Idea, Poor Execution
I have many Yeti products, and I have been using a french press for decades, so when this product came out I thought it would be great, however I was quite disappointed. Yes this holds a lot of coffee, and yes it will stay hot, however, that is where the positives end. The design of the lid, using rubber gaskets, makes keeping a water tight seal when pouring nearly impossible, most of the time mine dribbles like a toddler, everywhere. I have tried even pre-moistening the seal, to no avail. As many have stated, the plunger is difficult to push down and raise up, it takes some muscle work. Finally the short plunger shaft traps about 6oz of coffee underneath the screen, which is unable to be poured in any conventional manner; any attempt to remove the liquid results in a cup full of grinds. I returned my first one, thinking it was a lemon and got a second. Unfortunately all of the problems persist, and I have to call it quits with this one. Sorry Yeti, you completely missed the mark with this product.
YETI 64 Oz French Press - need a second lid
Love the product. Quality pitcher. There is one thing I really miss. I would like to use the pitcher for many other things than coffee, so I would like a second lid without the press rod. I would use the current lid, but the press with rod cannot be removed from the lid unfortunately.
Yeti does it again
Yeti does it again, keeps it hot no leaks & coffee always hot can’t wait to take it camping. Love the Red.
