Goodbye Leather = Hello Search for New Liner Glove
The previous model had an excellent leather palm reinforcement that made these the perfect Midweight liner gloves. Previously, the Lightweight version was the one with no leather reinforcement. The previous version's (item#174603) leather palm reinforcement that was thin enough that it did not interfere or feel bulky when used as a liner, but it was robust enough to take some hard wearing on rock scrambles or neverending hiking pole cork-rubbing when worn as an exterior glove. Got several years out of using them yearround as the only glove you need in summer, and part of the lineup in Winter. They have now removed the leather on the Midweights, making them nearly identical to the Lightweights and removing the robustness that made the previous version special. I'm not going to give them one star, because they are good gloves, but this year's model change is super lame and I want my fellow Co-Op members to know.
Great pair of digital gloves!
I love these gloves. And they are liners, technically, but at the right temperature they serve well enough on their own. I have tested them on a morning walk when it was closer to 30⁰, and I have to say perhaps—and for someone who tends to run hotter, generally—that I think these gloves are suited best on their own out the door when it's at least in the upper 30s outside. If you've been walking for a while and your body's warmed up they'll serve you better, of course. Otherwise, using them on my phone is almost just like not wearing gloves, which has been great! And they look good, and provide warmth while being easy to stow away anywhere, they're not bulky. Thanks BD!
I love these gloves.
I've had a pair for a few years and sadly lost one of them. So, I reordered this year and they felt like home as soon I put them on. The screen tap works better than any other glove brand I've worn. They fit snug, but not tight. They are soft on the inside and unless I am working hard and starting to get hot, I don't even notice I am wearing them. They are perfect for hiking or activities in which I am exerting low-to-moderate energy in cold weather like at or just below freezing (they are too warm for me to run in). I would buy these over and over again, but hopefully I won't lose one and need to buy again because my last pair was still in perfect condition after a few years of heavy use! Side note: The old version had a grip piece added in the palm that I miss, but was not essential.
Great everyday winter gloves
Living in New York comes with cold winters, and these gloves are perfect for everyday use. They work great with a touchscreen and fit really well, offering a decent amount of warmth. Around 10 degrees Fahrenheit they do feel a bit chilly but anything above that temperature they feel warm enough. The only downside is not being very grippy on a steering wheel, so driving in them is not amazing. The value for money, functionality, warmth, and design combined make for a solid pair of gloves.
Good gloves but could use improvement
Not very windy resistant and could be warmer with more of a grip in the palms even if it is a liner to be worn by itself more easily they can be very slippery.
Minimal but Warm
These gloves fit very comfortably. I wear them while I'm running and I don't feel like they're too warm. The seams are also pretty minimal so I can wear them while bike commuting and it doesn't cause any issues. Also, they are actually touchscreen compatible. They don't have a special coating on the fingers that will inevitably wear off. I'm very hopeful for the longevity of the screentap function.
Great midweight glove
Got these gloves because I wanted something that I could wear to cover my hands in the winter when I'm either walking or doing light activities but don't necessarily need a bulky winter glove. I live in Colorado so temperatures vary dramatically in the winter and my hands run on the cold side, but I'd say these are perfect for brief outdoor exposure near 0 °F and ideal for long durations in temperatures around 15-20°F. The screen tap material works amazingly well with my phone, it's as if I'm not even wearing a glove. I normally wear between a S and M for gloves, because I didn't want any loose fingers I sized down to a S. It's slightly tight but still fits great and after breaking in just a bit they. . . fit like a glove (couldn't resist). Getting the wrist part of the glove over my hand is a bit tight and doesn't flex as much as you might expect but still easy enough to get on and fits perfectly once on.
So easy to use phone!
I bought these for hiking as I use the phone and Apple Watch a lot while outdoors. Having the entire palm surface and all fingers work with phone makes it so nice! Can use two fingers to zoom in/out and make fewer mistakes since can use any finger. Warm, good fit, sizing is true. Buy them!
Gloves for colder running weather
I was looking for a warm pair of running gloves and gave these a try. While being deceptively lightweight, these gloves keep my hands warm during runs when the temps are 20 degrees and a bit below. Definitely worth it.
Must haves
Love them. . . when it's cold I wear them under heavier gloves and my hands stay warm while I'm working on anchors or knots. On warmer days I use them by themselves.
