CamelBak Classic Light Hydration Pack
I purchased the CamelBak Classic Light Hydration pack a month ago and it is now my go-to hydration system for most of my cycling needs. The pack is light and airy with great air flow between your back and the pack. It's barely noticeable when riding, even when filled to capacity (2L / 70 oz). The zippered storage compartment easily accommodates a phone, wallet, keys and a nutrition bar or two. You can also bungie a light jacket/rain jacket. If you need to pack additional food/clothing/gear, you'll need to upsize.
Poorly thought out refilling
I have used a Classic for many many years. It finally gave out so I purchased one of these. It has a major design change that us a flaw. On the previous bersion you could refill the bladder without removing it from the pack. Just ift a flap. Thus version you must at least partially remove the bladder to add water. This is a major headache if you have a pack full of tools pump etc. im jot sure eho thought this was a good idea. After a couple spill accidents, I threw the entire thing in the trash. Lost customer.
I like that this Camelbak
I like that this Camelbak holds more fluid than my old pack and not bulky with a lot of pouches/pockets. I use it for biking so the bright color is great. I like that the design is a little easier to clean than my old pack. Although the strap across the chest needs to be adjustable (up and down). The strap keeps the pack stable, but is in an awkward spot for me as a small breasted woman. I'm not sure I like the new design of the angled mouth piece. I find myself fumbling around with it trying to get the angled piece in my mouth right to drink. The bladder is easy to fill with the attached handle that my old Camelbak did not have. Although I do not like how the bladder attaches to the inside of the pack to keep it from sliding down. It's should be designed so it's quick and easy to unattach.
DG
I bought this for my wife because of the smaller size and lightweight. I use a larger one with similar features. We day hike and having your water readily available while keeping your hands free is important. I like the easy fill bladder with the handle and screw on lid. The bite valve and shut also are also nice features. On my older hydration systems the valve would eventually start dripping.
Super Light
Super light, super comfortable, excellent breathability, plenty of room for cycling tools but still streamlined. Just wore it on the cycling leg of an Ironman 70.3. Didn’t have to worry about slowing to reach for a bottle or having a bottle launch from a bump or pothole. It was super windy and I didn’t feel like the pack caught any wind. I’ve run with it too on training runs and it feels great.
Perfect for a long bike ride
Finally decided to switch to a camelback instead of lugging around water bottles on my road bike and couldn’t be happier. You don’t really feel the bag as you pedal and being easily able to reach for water is a game changer. I only wish there were clips to keep the backpack straps from flopping in the wind, but I guess I can just cut them when I’m sure they don’t need to be adjusted.
This Camelbak has a poor
This Camelbak has a poor design. It is difficult to get to the bladder to fill it especially from a water fountain. Do the designers actually use this? Also the bladder does not seem to hold as much liquid as prior models. I suspect that this will be the last Camelbak that I will buy.
Leaky Bag
It’s a good lightweight bag, however you cannot fill the bag more than ~1 water bottles worth of water without it leaking. Very disappointed as the whole point of this bag is to hold water, and that function does not work appropriately.
Easily Stained
I would not recommend this color. It is as bright and neon as it appears. However, the fabric will pick up whatever color it touches and after a few days of using it cautiously, there are stains everywhere.
Not for running
Have an older model that is great. Bought this for both running and cycling. Cannot be used for running. The buckles on the straps scratch the arms so the skin becomes very red. Regret buying it.
