Pockets, water, more pockets!

This is my first time owning a Camelbak/hydration pack, and I am pleasantly satisfied with it. The construction is simple and small, with three main compartments - the zippered pocket for the bladder, a large top loading pocket, and a small zippered pocket on the very outside. The shoulder straps also have small elastic pockets that might be good for GPS devices, headphones, or a key, but they are not big enough for a phone. I found the large top loading pocket helpful to bring items like a book or camera with me, while the small zipper pocket was good for a wallet and keys. The pack is easy to put on, a little hard to take off at times (because of its small form factor), and overall good build from what I can tell. I've used it for a few bike rides and a run, and the straw is easy to grab and drink from. The clip for the straw is more or less easy to tuck it away. I've deducted a star for two reasons... The straw of the bladder doesn't exactly tuck or clip away as much as I would like. I would've liked a small magnetic clip to attach it to the sternum strap, instead of it hanging down by my side. I didn't find it a nuisance while moving, but it was something I noticed frequently. Also, the bag is quite small for my body (I am a skinny, 5'10 male) and it rides up my shirt from time to time. Also, to detach the straw from the main bladder, you have to reach all the way down into the bag, which resulted in some spilling of the water into the bag. Those are the only drawbacks I could really think of for this product. Nice hydration pack. Love the pockets and the slim shape. Didn't bother me while on the move, sometimes forgot it was there because of how light it is. Solid!

Versatile Little Power Pack

This pack is small enough for an unencumbered experience, while being roomy enough for your gear. You could store stuff in the zippered section with the water bladder, in the open top “middle section” or in the front zippered section. There is also mesh like pockets on the straps… but I do wish these were a little bigger because phones nowadays are huge, and mine wouldn’t easily slip in, so it had to go in a zippered compartment which isn’t the easiest to quickly access while riding (for me anyway). Comfort wise… the stiffness of the pack gives for a weird feel, but not enough to be a deal breaker! The bladder itself is actually one of the nicer ones I’ve used, and the mouth piece is extremely easy to use one handed. The pack is cute aesthetically and I like the reflective accents. I’ve used this on a bike ride, a short day hike and as a little getting around errand bag

Nice hydration pack...I'm a believer now!

I was skeptical about using a hydration pack for short to medium length trail hiking, by I'm glad I tried it and I'm a believer now! The CamelBak Rogue Light is large enough to hold the amount of water I need for a 3-to-5-hour hike that does not require much gear. The pouch and zippered pocket easily accommodated the essentials, including keys, small first aid kit, snacks and a lightweight jacket. The straps were very comfortable and highly adjustable - allowing for layering underneath. The pack fit nicely over a rain shell and expanded to accommodate a down jacket. My only challenge was with the mouthpiece, which was somewhat uncomfortable initially because I wear a removable dental device, but it worked fin after finding the right position. The pack will work well for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, too, without interfering with arm motions. One more positive...the water doesn't sloosh around

THE BEST COMFORT AND FIT

I have been using the Camelbak Rogue Light 7 for mountain biking, road biking and day hiking. I am very happy with this product for the following reasons: Usage: Fantastic comfort and fit. Not sure if the comfort is due to the fit or the weight. It weighs 7 ounces as compared to my old Camelbak which is 16 ounces. It really stays in place even though there is only a chest strap. I took this pack over bumpy, rough terrain and it did not budge. I am really loving it for road biking! In the past, I would always get a backache after 15-20 miles but with this pack I can’t even feel it at all while riding. This will afford me lots of extra water storage space on longer day rides and will be a major asset for bike touring when I frequently ride over eight hours a day on trails with non-potable water. It meant a lot to me that most of the pack is made from recycled materials. The fabric is strong and sturdy and dries in a flash. I got the Serenity Blue color which is a nice change from neutrals and is easy to spot when you lay it down on the ground. Storage: There is an outside pocket with stretchy sides where I could fit my puffy jacket, gloves and a urination funnel for day hikes. It also has a long zippered pocket which fit my snacks, two epi pens, 3-oz. liquid allergy meds pouch and a pill case. An ingenious addition to both shoulder straps is a small stretch pocket where I fit my keys, a rag, pocket knife and phone (but not in its protective case). It was good to be able to access these without having to stop and remove the pack. If I could improve the storage, I would like the zippered pocket to also have some stretch. Bladder: Nothing leaked. The bladder cap twists off easier and seems better constructed than previous caps. I never had a quick release hose like this one has and it was a welcome surprise. The longer loop to secure the bladder inside the pack makes it easier to attach and still holds it in place. The best things about this pack: extremely comfortable to wear and it really stays put.

Thoughtful design leads the pack

I’ve had a camelbak and similar hydration pack-compatible bags before, but the thoughtful additions/features and lightweight construction of this Camelbak make it a winner. The pack is lightweight, has sturdy but extremely breathable padding and straps, and has well-placed extra mesh pockets for ease of use. In addition to a zippered internal compartment, the pack has an elastic pouch in the front which expands to fit sweatshirts, change of clothes, and my favorite - expands to fit a helmet. I’ve used this on bike rides and cannot recommend enough - the large pouch fits all my necessities and the mesh pockets on the straps provide perfect easy access for snacks and other goodies that are of limited use when zippered away.

Great slim low profile design

I took my Rouge Light 7 out for 4 hours of gravel with The Boys this weekend and was surprised by how little I noticed it was there. Its slim low profile design hugs your back and doesn't bounce or slide around, even on rocky descents. Almost two liters of water is good for all day, and the pack has a great zipper pocket for your wallet and keys, and a stretch pouch to shove in a vest or rain jacket

Not as good as the women version

This is the man/unisex version of the Rogue Light 7. Unfortunately, it is not the same design. It lost the small but very useful inside pocket, it has these large flaps on the shoulder straps that get in the way, it has the added useless "pockets" on the shoulder straps. Despite being a men's backpack comes on a very neutral color. And for all that "improvement" you pay more for this one. So, as a man I decided to buy the women pack that it better designed and has a similar neutral color. My advice, skip this one, get the women version, and buy yourself a beer for the change.

I've been purchasing Camelbak packs

I've been purchasing Camelbak packs going on 16 years and now have at least one designated to each activity I do; running, MTB, Cycling, Hiking, and working outside. I would say I still love the fit and durability of each different style I have (the one I use for working outside is the first Rogue I purchased in 2008), and I'm really happy Camelbak finally upgraded the bite valve design, but the added magnetic clip placement still needs a more permanent home to affix to on the shoulder strap or chest strap, or something. When the only place to affix it to is somewhere along the adjustable side of the chest strap it's just never in a constant place to mindlessly clip it back in. Otherwise, I'm still a loyal and satisfied user.

Not for technical mountain biking

Overall high quality build typical of Camelbak products, however the lack of a torso strap makes this a bad choice if you are a mountain biker riding technical terrain with steep rollers, jumps, log hops, etc. . . Without the lower strap to hold it down it's going to ride up and hit you in the back of the head anytime you ride down a steep rock or bunny hop a big log. I'm going to see if I can retro fit something to address the problem and make it more useable. It would be fine for road or gravel riding though.

I was looking for a

I was looking for a lightweight hyrdation pack to use while cycling. This rig meets all of my requirements except for one...the process of getting rid of the plastic smell and taste of a new unit. Seems like Camelback could develop a consumer product or provide specific guidance on how to resolve this issue. I found several YouTube videos offering advice but none have worked completely yet. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the product.
