Good pack, terrible shoulder straps
The bag itself is fine, it has pockets and it holds things; the bladder does it's job. But the shoulder straps are an absolute joke. They have no structure whatsoever, nor any padding; they may as well be two strings of yarn. They feel like if you were to brush up against a tree that they would tear clean in half, which is a crazy design choice given a bag marketed as a trail/mountain biking pack. It's a backpack, the shoulder straps are arguably the single most important functional feature of the entire build. The rest of the bag is great, but I'm really disappointed in the quality of the shoulder straps, I expect much better from a brand like Camelbak.
Mediocre bag
I purchased this bag as my original Mule from 2015 was starting to fail. Camelbak went the ultralight route with this iteration and it was the wrong direction for a cycling pack. Its too heavy to be an ultralight bag despite the frail shoulder straps, and too underbuilt for real adventure. The other thing I dislike is the new magnet to retain the mouth-piece. It is not strong to retain it in active riding and the old clip retention was much better in that regard.
