Don't get caught outside in foul weather with this
I used this once in Montana on a misty morning and it seemed to be ok. Rest of the trip it wasn't needed. My next several outings were dry and it was never deployed. Recently, I've been forced to use it on 3 occasions and it has performed miserably each time. No sooner than I start out, I'm feeling the moisture thru it. It has been well cared for and this morning, it got me wet enough I plan to contact SP and ask them what I'm doing wrong - do I need to coat it with something? It's so bad I can't believe I'm the only person to have this experience.
Works well for cycling
I bought this jacket elsewhere and overall really like it. It holds up for about 2-3 hours of pretty torrential downpour. Overall works well in Seattle/PNW riding weather. My main complaint is the ventilation, which I wish either there were more traditional armpit vents or two venting points. But overall I stay dry on shorter rides and will be looking to something else for longer adventures.
Dysfunctional “rain” jacket
The only thing this jacket is “waterproof” against is a light mist. In any kind of rain it will soak through almost immediately.
