I bought this shoes 1.5 years ago. They were very comfortable in the beginning, but the fabric at the heels and around the edge of the shoe started to degrade and break, with the inner padding foam coming out. Considering the price, the fabric used was subpar, considerably shortening the life of these shoes. Also, the laces are a bit too long and tend to get a little loose, so and I needed to tuck them in otherwise I would step on them
Colour not as shown in photo. Stiff shoe
I was really disappointed to find that the colour is not as shown in this photo because I selected it over other brands for this reason. The top colour is an olive green. The shoe is proving hard to wear in because it is very stiff. I would not buy again. I didn’t return because I needed new shoes urgently. Would not trust the photo again, would prefer to shop in store
Wrong Lacing Mechanism
These hiking shoes feel great on my feet, but the zip laces don't work with this stiffer shoe. On my first hike the laces kept coming loose, forcing me to stop, take off my gaiters and tighten them. This happened all day with me having to stop every 1/2 mile to tighten the laces.
I was hoping to love them
I have been wearing Salomon for over 20 years. I love every pair of hiking shoes I have ever owned. The hikers fit well, comfortable, grip is outstanding and I have never had any pain to my feet, ever, not until now. These hiking shoes cause my feet to be extremely hot, significant pain to the bottom of my feet, pain to my Achilles and foot all over. I have had to stop wearing them. I will have to go back to my favourite shoe to feel the comfort again and to continue on my with my long hikes!

I wore Solomon's X Ultra Alpine Low shoe for hiking and camping to 17,257 feet in Himalayas, Ladakh, India for 3 weeks in July. My feet were securely supported and well protected from rocks. I was worried about whether I would like the laces but they are quick and easy to use. These are now my go-to hikers for all conditions. I would like to try the X Ultra Alpine Mid hiking boots one day if they are offered in another color.
Best purchase I’ve ever made!
These shoes are honestly incredible. Super comfortable, EXTREMELY waterproof. I took them on a trip to Patagonia and hiked over 40 miles with no issues whatsoever. It rained multiple times without soaking through and I didn’t even have to break them in beforehand. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase. Highly recommend for hiking, long walks, or even walking on ice!
Achilles tendonitis from these shoes- DO NOT BUY
Extremely firm and unforgiving - walked many miles to break in but ended up with crippling pain in right foot - achilles tendonitis. Saw similar comment from another reviewer. Had many Salomon shoes before and other than soles wearing very quickly they have been comfortable. Sadly wont be purchasing anything else from Salomon - will look to other brands in future.
Good but some issues
I love how they look, but after 4 hours wearing them my feet felt hot and they wear rubbing my toes. I will try to wear compression socks and I see how this improve shoes performance. Overall I want to like them. I was using Scarpa until now and I never have any problems so I hope my first impression will change.
Best Salomon
I have has GatX shoes from Salomon for over 10 years now. And these are the best as they are a little stiffer and great on scree. It helps the feet not feel tired with the constant uneven surfaces. Additionally, it fit well and did not require any break in period. Just perfect!
Well made. Good comfortable fit
I have now had several pairs of Salomon walking trainers over the years and always found them to be comfortable and hard wearing . These are as comfortable as my last pair & so I hope they will remain so for a few years and many happy miles of walking
