Snow Pants vs. Bibs: Which Are Better?

Setting switchbacks on the uptrack and letting loose on the down has never felt better. These Arc'teryx bib pants now feature a lighter, more durable GORE-TEX Pro ePE fabric. And the fit is roomier.

Here is a clean, natural English version of your review: --- The fit is truly excellent for ski touring: great freedom of movement, well-designed ergonomics, and overall comfort. However, the quality of the Gore-Tex is very disappointing. The zippers have defect, and the new Gore-Tex ePE does not hold up over time. Where previous jackets lasted around 300 days of use, this one barely reaches 30 days. I have been using Arc'teryx for over 25 years, and the original product quality is clearly no longer there.
I have the ‘24/‘25 version of the Rush Bib. I love the design and light weight. But, the material is just remarkably not durable. On my fifth day skiing in them last winter I brushed by a small fir tree. When I got to the bottom of the run I saw that my VHF radio was no longer in my thigh pocket. The tree brush had torn a hole large enough at the bottom of the pocket that the radio just dropped right out. Fortunately, a climb back to the top and an hour of Marco Polo on my friend’s radio reunited me with the radio. Over the summer Arcteryx did a nice repair job (but charged me for it). If this season’s product uses the same material as last winter’s I just can’t recommend this bib.
Love these pants as my go to splitboarding pants. They’re lightweight and breathable, yet robust enough to bash through trees and alders. Great venting features for dumping heat on warm, high output days. The suspenders let me wear them higher for full range of movement without having to cinch them tight around my waist. The cargo style pockets are thoughtfully placed so they don’t interfere with my knees. Depending on temps, I either go straight to skin or add a thin base layer. The next to skin feel is smooth and plush. I’m hard on gear and have had zero durability issues so far. Im 5'11" , 190 lbs and wear them in large to maintain my snowboarder identity! Baggy but not too baggy!
I’ll second the need for short lengths. Long lengths too I would guess.
Have used these pants 13 days total (only use them for touring) and in at time have had three product service claims and repairs done on them. Two tears both occurred during normal simple terrain ski touring. One resulting in the garment no longer being waterproof on the tear. As well as a zipper come right off the track keeping a lighter and a Clif bar stuck in my pocket on an overnight hut trip. Extremely poor quality with next to no durability. They are just so fragile and feel as such. Not at all worth the hassle of going through constant product service requests or the price. Also very tight fitting with not great mobility. I bought a large and wear large in everything and it feels as if I am wearing a skinny fit pant.
I bought these to replace my 14 year old Theta bibs. I am a bit disappointed that they don;t have full side zips for touring. I have often needed to don bibs while in the middle of a touring day, and these bibs will require removal of ski boots for that purpose. It seems like a huge design miss. Otherwise, they seem to be rugged and lightweight. I am expecting that they should last as long as my old Theta bibs, which were heavier and and had full side zips.
Like the pants but not the fabric. I'm finding the GORE-TEX PRO ePF wets out very quickly. Disappointingly so. On recent outings GORE-TEX PRO jacket is shedding wet snow (and rain) as it should but the pants end up completely wet out. Feels like ePF fabrics still have work to do in order to be on par with regular GORE-TEX for conditions near or above freezing.
I purchased a pair of the rush bibs last year and returned them due to the poor fit, particularly they were very tight through the crotch. I saw the updates to this year's bibs that claimed to fix the fit issues. I got another pair and will be returning them as the crotch fit issues are still there, seemingly unchanged from last year's product!
The pant ist great, but sitzweise IT didnt fit; I wear your Gear since many years,i coose m/m,it wars to wide. Mayby i should have coose m/s justto Info U from my perspective. Quality and Material owesome... Thanks Josef...another time again.
