KUHL  Burr Insulated Jacket - Men's

Nice jacket but sizing runs small. Large is my normal size but this coat is very tight in a large, to the point that arm movement is restricted. REI features says "Articulated design for freedom of motion". The arms and shoulders have no flexibility or extra room for freedom of movement. It has a nice form fitted look but too tight in shoulders to allow normal movement. Concerned going up a size will result in sleeves being too long.

When I ordered the coat online, I read several reviews that said it ran some degree of small. Before ordering I had my wife remeasure my chest to make sure I was accurate. Based on that measurement, I ordered a medium and it is slightly too small. For reference, I am 5’ 8” have a 40” chest and I wear 31 or 32 inch pants.  When I wear it over a base layer with no shirt, it’s just about perfect, which lucky for me is how I usually wear it. When I try to wear it with a base layer and a shirt it’s too tight through the chest. Other than the size it’s a great jacket, well-made, nice materials, and is form fitting, but not overly constructing. It’s one of the few jackets I’ve found that isn’t cut for someone who’s overweight. So my recommendation ,for what it’s worth, is that if you’re on the upper edge of a recommended range go to the next higher one.

Same complaint as the other reviews…the jacket is too tight around the shoulders and waist. The sleeves are a prefect length though. Seems they made the sleeves long and the rest of the jacket a size too small. Now, the quality, materials, stitching, warmth and look are fantastic! If only Kuhl could get the sizing right in this jacket.

Same as other review - I always wear large in any brand and this coat is too small. Sleeves are just right if not a bit long though, so an XL then is too big. Not sure what they were after when they made this coat, but it doesn’t work.

This jacket has been a great jacket and is perfect for cool to cold type temperatures. I love that it is both stylish and rugged and can be used for both a night out in town or at work. I normally wear XXL sized shirts and jackets and purchased this jacket in XXL, it fits me perfectly.

The Kuhl Burr Insulated Jacket is hands down the most comfortable and durably designed jacket I have owned. I have many outdoor jackets and none have ever fit me or kept me as warm outside without overheating like this jacket. The Burr Insulated Jacket truly feels tailor made for my 5’ 11” 190 pound build. Warmth from this jacket is second to none and I put it to the test in the coldest parts of this past winter 2024-2025. I was toasty in 22 degrees arctic air days and nights. I work and live on a farm and decided to just go for it and wore the Burr Insulated Jacket for every activity from livestock, fencing, plowing and all outdoors. This jacket FAR exceeds it’s price point in quality, durability and true warmth. The Burr’s durable wax canvas exterior made it absolutely snow and rain resistant. I have already purchased 2 more for this coming winter 2025-2026. The only issue I had was how warm I got while inside wearing it before getting outside. This is a true outdoorsman’s jacket. I think the jacket is great. It fits well, given I have broad shoulders, longer arms, and a bit of a belly. My only complaint is with REI as a retailer: I bought the jacket during a sale when, as a member, I could get 25% off one item. As this jacket is not sold in stores and reviewers noted that sizing is not typical, I ordered both the XL and XXL. The discount was applied to the former but I ended up keeping the latter. I returned in store, but the discount could not be reapplied - even though it was ongoing. So I lost out on the discount. Other retailers would have applied the discount amount to the overall sale, not the specific item. So that is a disappointment. Still, the jacket is a good value even at full price

Great jacket because it's warm and looks a bit unique. Love the fit and the fabric
