I'm a mailman so I do a lot of walking. I want to like the shoe but these are its problems: 1. They're not actually waterproof, your feet will get wet. 2. As someone previously mentioned, the shoe "clicks" and is severely annoying and impractical. 3. Mine have torn at the inner foot bunion area. I don't really have bunions, nor have I had other shoes tear there normally. If these points could be corrected, then GREAT SHOE 5/5. Otherwise, the problems listed are quite drastic so honestly, 1/5. I'd simply have to recommend a different shoe. These do look nice and walk nicely though.
These look cool but I don't think they are designed well. I wore them probably a total of 5 times and in that time got the two worst ankle twists of my life. I never wore them again and am putting them in the trash where they belong. The problem is the sole is super wide and grippy, so it easily catches on things and puts a lot of torque on your foot, but the ankle is very low, so provides no help in resisting that torque. I have loved Salomon shoes in the past but these are terrible. Avoid these!
These babies are like an ATV on your feet. The last is perfect for me. The sole is solid, as is the entire shoe, and the arch is prominent. And yet, there is enough cushioning to wear them all day comfortably. Oh, they look great.
From the moment that I first put this shoe on I knew that it was going to be a great trail shoe! The footbed cradles your foot and the shoe holds your foot secure and provides exceptional stability. The Gore-Tex interior ensures that your feet stay dry and the well-cushioned sole with deep legs keep your feet happy and secure on a majority of road/trail types. This is an all around excellent trail shoe!
Every Salomon shoe I have ever purchased have been very comfortable all day and with no break-in time. They feel great from the day you take them out of the box and feel the same six months later. The Elixir Active Goretex is no different. This is my second pair. I bought this second pair just for work. 10 hours a day on concrete floor and still ready to go at the end of the day!
My old Salomon shoes finally died after many treks overseas. I also have some great Salomon boots for difficult terrain too. So, it made sense to buy another pair. The other ones have been very comfortable and very stable on different surfaces.
Poor quality shoe, really disappointed. Was purchased for its goretex qualities and wore them for the the first time in wet conditions adnd they are absolute rubbish. I have non fortes shoes that keep my feet drier. Feeling a little ripped off
Had these shoes now for about 6 months. Only moderate use. There is 3 of 4 tears in them, they leak. The soles are wore out. There is also a big bump wore up in the bottom of the shoe. Anyway not a great quality shoe at all.
I purchased these to replace the Outpulse which was discontinued. As much as I liked the Outpulse, this is an improvement. I've been buying Salomon for years and they never disappoint.
Get a half size bigger. The quality is good however like all shoe manufacturers the inner sole is poor quality. It’s firm lacks cushioning and so over time it’s get uncomfortable.
