Awful

Not sure why this product was rated so high. If you would like to spend over $100 on a pair that you need to wear another pair of gloves underneath these are it. It is only 21° out and yet my hands are freezing compared to cheaper alternatives. Another flaw in design is The down portion that keeps your hands warm is only on the top of your hand. Underneath your palm is a very thin layer of fabric which still penetrate through.

No, I do not recommend this product

Reynaud savior!

Alright like many active women I have Reynaud's which is a huge pain in the winter, especially when there's any wind or you're transitioning layers in cold environments. [I'm also a photographer trying to shoot in these conditions which is superrr challenging when your fingers just shut down]. I've found combining a thin liner with the Fission Mitt works quite well for non-high-dexterity activities, BUT I'm really stoked about these because they're going to work so well with a pair of the Venta gloves. You can compress them down a ton, and they fit over a full glover rather than just thin liners. I'm super stoked to use these this winter, and expect theyre going to help a ton. Will return with an update / comment below this later in the winter after I've had more experience with them.

Good warm, poor fit/shape

I had no concerns with the thickness / warmth, though for any cold temperatures (below -10) you will want a liner glove. Where these fall short is 1) the wrist retention design, and 2) the fit for large hands. For 1) years there is no narrowing or elastic right around the immediate wrist area, and the gloves are tubular so they pull off easy. I’ve tried using those glove catch/hanging straps on the outside wrist area but it’s not a great work around. For 2) I have average big male hands. I got size XXL (biggest size) and finger length is maybe a cm or two too short, causing the thumb web area to float a cm or two off. Any time I grab something deeply in the thumb web, my middle finger jams hard into the end of the glove. Because the fit / shape is poor especially for large hands, I would not recommend

Critical design flaw

Arc’teryx Beta Down Mittens Review At first glance, the Arc’teryx Beta Down Mittens seem like a premium choice for cold-weather protection. They have an excellent fit, a sleek design, and feel warm thanks to their down insulation. However, a critical design flaw makes them ineffective in real-world conditions. The issue lies in the insulation coverage—or lack thereof. The down does not extend over the entire seam, leaving the most exposed parts of the mitten vulnerable to cold air. Since seams are where wind and cold penetrate most easily, this flaw results in noticeable heat loss. The thumbs and fingertips, which are already prone to getting cold, become unbearably frigid in even the slightest breeze or air movement. Surprisingly, the Fission SV mittens, which use synthetic insulation, perform significantly better in terms of warmth. Unlike down, synthetic insulation maintains its effectiveness even in damp or windy conditions, making the Beta Down Mittens a poor choice for anything other than completely still, dry environments. Given this fundamental flaw, I can’t recommend these mittens. They simply don’t perform as expected for high-end winter gear, and I’ll be trading mine in for something more functional. It’s disappointing, especially coming from Arc’teryx, a brand known for technical excellence.
