very good hiking socks

I was in Denver visiting one of my children and I ran by the REI Flagship store to get some hiking socks. I have wide feet so the wide open socks appealed to me. I first wore them hiking the Serpent’s Trail and Devil’s Kitchen Trail at the Colorado monument. The socks fit perfectly and I had no hot spots develop. Next I hiked up to Ptarmigan lake near Buena Vista, CO. Again no issues. My final hike was around 11 miles in the Red River area of Northern NM. The hike was 2,500 ft elevation gain on the first half and then downhill for the second half. After a long day the socks and my feet were fine outside of some irritation on the tip of my second toe from my hiking boots. I definitely recommend these socks and plan to buy a few additional pairs. The only negative is that they need to be washed on delicate, cold water and hung to dry. A minor inconvenience.
