For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

I am very happy with these boots so far. Comfy right out of the box. Took on maiden voyage to Acadia this past week with some steep terrain and no issues at all. Great grip. The best I have ever had. Wide toe box so felt good on the downhill. At the end of the day I can honestly say that I wasn't anxious to take them off. Very light weight and my feet did not get really hot. They do run a bit bigger as I usually do 9.5 in hikers (9 in regular shoes) but the 9 in these were good with 9.5 too roomy. Only thing left is to see how durable they are.
The boots feel great on my feet, are lightweight and provide stability.
I purchased these boots since La Sportiva does not offer the more superior Raptor Womens Wide Boot any longer. I had 3 pair of the Raptor boots, which received high ratings on outdoor gear website. The Raptors were great. The Juniper model seemed like the replacement for the Raptor. My experience is it has an even wider toe box than the Raptor wide model. It actually is really wide, for me (I do have a wide foot),almost dysfunctionally wide. This is not the real concern. The real problem is the foot bed, it does not seem to have much cushion even after trying it with 3 different high cost/high quality inserts. I have also tried thicker socks, then even thicker socks to winter weight which is not comfortable in the summer and did not work. Bottoms of my feet are sore after hiking. None of this happened with the Raptor design or for that matter other hiking boots I have used over the years, so not typical for me at all. I am returning my backup pari I bought during a sale.
