Comfortable, solid, and stylish! These shoes are great, love the feel and quality.
These shoes are perfect for technical trail runs. They’re lightweight, yet durable, with an incredible grip that gives me confidence on steep and muddy terrain. The InFuse midsole provides great shock absorption, and the Vibram Megagrip outsole is a game-changer. My favorite feature is the small tongue pocket to tuck away the laces; such a thoughtful touch to prevent them from getting untied while running! The fit is roomy, which works for me, but if you prefer a snugger fit, I’d recommend sizing down a half size. Overall, these shoes are breathable, comfortable, and ready for any adventure!
I bought this shoe for a versatile shoe for a 15 day excursion to Scotland. From the trails on the Isle of Skye to streets of Edinburgh, it performed perfectly. For a trail shoe, it was super quiet on streets and store floors and tackled any trail I was on. Even though we didn’t wear a raincoat for our entire trip, my feet stayed dry in the dew and through shallow creeks. The sizing was perfect- I followed Arc’teryx’s sizing using a pen, paper, and a ruler. This is the most comfortable and fitting trail shoe I have owned. I love them and will purchase another color. I highly recommend this shoe!!
I love my pair of sylan pros so I figured I’d love these too. Unfortunately there is intense color bleeding throughout the white part of the shoe and I also noticed these are a tighter fit than the pros.
Hi there, thanks for sharing your experience with the Sylan GTX Shoe. We're sorry to hear about the color bleeding. We appreciate your feedback and will make sure to pass it along to our team.
Ok, these shoes are by far the best I’ve had in some time. Hx of Mizuno for years but recently just could not get miles on them without my feet hurting—just pain! Really wanted something for winter running, something to help keep the feet warm when its minus something or just cool and wet. Sylan GTX to my rescue. My mistake first run 14km on a new shoe but they felt great—blister on my arch. I’ve since adjusted my lacing and doing very well with my Sylan. I just ordered another pair. When you find something that works get another pair quick!
Varies slightly from your normal size (we've had both issues men's seem to run slightly small, women's slightly large) but GREAT shoes for the PNW or similar climate - comfortable, gortex, extra rubber and FEATHER weight. Include a special little pocket for your tied laces, to keep them dry/out of the way. Though these shoes are meant for trail running, they work well for everyday...especially in our wet climate. Edgy style and functional. Say good bye to your rubber boots?! Both male and female in our house share the love for these shoes.
I've been ordering the Norvan LD 4 GTX for a couple of years now & love them. I tried to order these in the same size that I get in the Norvan, but they are a lot tighter towards the front of the foot. I'm going to try ordering a half size up & see if that helps. The Norvan are my go to shoe for work. I own an outdoor lighting company & i install on all kinds of terrain. I've never had a pair of shoes hold up this so well. They never fall apart. I will stick with this brand for a long time that's for sure.
I bought Sylan shoes as a gift for my boyfriend birthday gift . He wore it for one week but he got sore feet and back pain and did not find them useful at all . He did not wear them anymore.. If you are looking for a comfortable shoes they are not comfortable at all .only suitable for short walking. Although i do like arcteryx brand and its quality i believe the shoes are not perfect.
Hi Elahe. Thank you for sharing the experience of your boyfriend with the Sylan GTX Shoe. We’re sorry to hear the fit caused discomfort—every runner’s stride and support needs are different, and while the Sylan is built for responsive performance on technical terrain, it may not offer the cushioning or flexibility some prefer for longer wear. Your feedback helps us continue refining fit and comfort across our footwear line. If comfort is a priority, the Norvan LD 4 Shoe might be a better match with a more cushioned and forgiving ride.
I bought these Winter 2024. They run snug, so slightly smaller than Nike normal fitment by 1/4 size. Probably Hoka fit size. I went out on a grim Welsh day in the rain and wind. You will not get a more supportive shoe IMHO. I’ve got Brooks, Hoka and Innov8 trail runners, and the grip sets these apart. Outstanding job Arc’teryx 😁
I bought the GTX as I was so impressed by the Sylan Pros that I had recently purchased. They were pretty comfortable straight out of the box. But a swift 10 km made them softened them up nicely. The grip is great on rock and trail. And you can tell the build quality immediately.
